i been spinning dnb for about 4 or 5 years, and all it took was that one mix to convert me to dubstep
any other people move from dnb (which has gotten somewhat lame in the last year) to dubstep?
Moving from DNB to dubstep
just to make it clear, this place isn't like doa. we don't really moderate things here, but we can and will if needed.
this forum is for music lovers and we want to keep it that way, so please don't post about lemonparty, kevin l, the hottest ass on the planet, mudwrestling or some other ridiculous shit. lord knows we really don't need another forum like that.

I think there are going to be a hell of a lot more converts as well, especially with people like Vex'd and Toastyboy gathering more and more momentum, there's a thread practically every week now to do with these guys!

Yeah, i think the more abrasive side of dubstep such as toasty, vex'd especially, and some of the more amen-obsessed releases on storming (dubchild, Eric H ect) are giving drum and bass heads some common ground to get into the sound.
I loved dnb for years, but found myself looking back to dub reggae rather than forward to some differant future beats, when i started getting tired of same line up at every single rave bashing out the same tunes.
I think its more the tempo of dub and dub mutations (like dubstep) that draws people in, you can pack so much more mood, texture and atmosphere into a piece of music if its paced slower.
The bass gets heavier cos at lower tempoes you can get lower pitched sounds without them becoming muddy, and generaly the production becomes more organic, as its not having to be heavily processed to sit clear in the mix.
Not to say there aint some breath taking producers in dnb at the moment, and early reinforced and metalheadz is massive inspiration to me still. People like equinox, breakage and the whole inperspective camp, break+silent witness, klute, or Amit (recognize game) are really pushing the boundaries, but still when you hit a night like sub dub in leeds, highness sound system or vibration sound system in notts and derby respectivly, its such a completely differant, and fully immersive experiance, you really notice what is lacking in most modern drum and bass.
