Hey i know this is probly a really stupid question and its probly been asked and answered on here plent of times but im a newb and just registered with dubstepforum.com today to try and get my problem solved.
I have a wobble i have made in Massive 2.4 im now ready to record the bass loop into ableton so i can start drawing in my changes to the wobble but cannot seem to find the sync rate anywhere in ableton for me to change the rate. i can only seem to change the rate of the wobble but its not synced to the beat.
So if that made sense to anyone i hope someone can help me out

welcome!! there should be a little 'sync' button right below the rate knob.. click it and the rate will then be displayed in fractions!
Edit: Maybe i read you're question wrong! I wouldn't know how to find it within ableton sorry! but i would recommend not syncing the lfo and just use your ear! Thats what i usually do!

hey thanks but i already know how to change it to sync. Its when i unfold the device parameters i cant find the sync rate there. Which means when i record my bassline in ableton i cant change the sync through out the song it just stays on 1/8 .
I would go by ear but i only have a mouse to draw the changes it seems so time consuming.
i guess i will keep on trying thanks anyway

i think he means he wants to change the LFO rate whilst keeping it synced. so for example, it will wuub wuub wuub wuub at 1/8 for 2 bars, then swithc up to wubwubwubwubbing at 1/16 for 2 bars after that.
i dont use massive anymore, but i remember this used to be a problem people spoke on here about a lot, i dont know if its been addressed in an update or something but if not, youre gonna have to do it unsynced! on the plus side, youll probably get it sounding better than you would have if youd stuck with the same boring synced wobble that people slap over top 40 tunes to make a "filthy dubstep remix"!

Yeah thats what im trying to get at .. yeah i guess unsync is what im going to have to do.. just need a midi keyboard to map it to make it alot easier.
haha yeah that filthy dubstep can get a bit boring im more down with the older kinda stuff

I'm not sure which version of Massive fixes this problem, but yes you have found one of the biggest flaws with the VST. You CANNOT automate the synced rate in Massive - the earlier versions that is.
Fixes: Have fun with an unsynced rate. You can get some pretty neat results, it just takes more time.
Or Slap an auto-filter (in Ableton's effect library) on Massive's channel. You can automate the shit out of that.

you can automate both of the sync parameters in massive. I use Ableton so i just hit configure on the VST tab for Massive, move the parameters and up they pop for automation.

You must have a current version then. Older versions cannnnnnnot automate it. I'm not sure which version included this fix, but it is totally true for me. I cannot configure Massive's synced rate.

I think your on about version 1.4 of massive. In this case you should be able to automate the rate of a synced lfo (it was added in this update) just move the rate and a pink line appears. This works in live 8 i think live 7 has a limit on the number of parameters that can be automated.
Latest version is 1.5 download it from the NI site or service centre. I'm assuming you aren't wasting people's time asking why cracked software isn't working.

Actually thinking about it of the top of my head - perhaps you could do it in quite a hacky way.
You would need to set up four LFO's though ( 1 for each rate and 1 to control a filter to 'mute' the whichever LFO wasn't controlling your sound and another to 'turn on' the one to play) and would need to do some pretty mad modulation to achieve it. Not really ideal.

You can, the parameter is just called something like 'mod#LFO5' its got a really long name, which ends in 5 for the first lfo, and you just automate that.

instead of automating the massive LFO...try bouncing it without any wub...throw it in a Sampler, chuck a filter on it and link that to an LFO all within sampler. Just another way of doing things but might give u more options when it comes to using LFO's and automation generally.

iv found that creating an automation clip for whatever your lfo is attached to is an alternative. Kind of tedious, but it can give you the exact wobble your looking for
