i put the milk in a bit after the water so it gives the sugar time to fully dissolve. If i put milk in at the same time as the water the sugar never fully melts, ya get meh?

^exactly
& same with honey
And why would you cool the water down by having milk in there before the tea has properly brewed? You'd be missing out on some of the flavouring chemicals that need higher temps to be distilled.
In my current location I can't make a decent cuppa cos the water is shit...high in dissolved salts from being artesian...taken to making tea from bottled water.

What are all you proper english folk doing using tea bags? If I've learnt nothing else from the hundreds of hours I've watched of Poirot, Foyle's War and various period dramas, it's that the english always have a pot of tea on the go. And if not, someone from high society can be heard to remark; "We're running a little dry here?" or "This pot is beginning to stew, put on another".
How could anyone put milk first in with tea bags anyway? The whole point of tea bags is that the tea steeps in the cup, how you gonna add milk to tea that hasn't steeped yet?
But if you're making a proper pot of tea, milk in the cup first, otherwise the milk scolds.
