the man can mix on anything - he could mix on his nipples if they made records that small..NilsFG wrote:He has been mixing with cd's for a few months now so you can judge yourself.pissedone wrote:I wonder if he can mix as well on CDJ's as a turntable's.....
..you will know your responsibility..
Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
I doubt he can mix as well if he grew up mixing on vinyl, I'd be surprised if his CD sets were as good as his vinyl/dubplate ones

With all due respect, it takes the same amount of skill to mix CD's as it does with vinyl. I actually find it more difficult with CD'scb8051 wrote:If you've witnessed the skill and expertise of Youngsta, and other DJs for that matter, do a set using only vinyl you can appreciate why being forced to use CD/midi is a bit shit not only for the DJ but for the listener/viewer as well.semr wrote:who gives a fuck if its cd's or not...means bare exclusive. trust me he smashed manchester to pieces last night.

Clubs aren't looking after their decks, and with sound systems getting ever louder, they are becoming a nightmare to work with.
I too have conceded that I'm probably going to have to stop using the Serato vinyl and switch to Serato CD's soon. Skipping needles, people jumping near the DJ booths and loads of other factors make it nearly impossible to play an hour set without some kind of hindrance to your set.
Its definitely more about this than money I think.

Very sad news

It's DJ's like Youngsta who are keeping the vinyl scene alive...
Make sure you carry on releasing vinyl though! speaking of which, do you know anywhere where the Maniac release is still in stock?

Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
last gig i played the decks were buggered and I was the only person to turn up with a bag of wax!!!!
my set sounded like shit coz the needles were fucked and everyone elses sounded great

Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
i have started burning cds recently, due to the fact of dodgy decks, hell ive even been to gigs where they only have cdjs there.
people aint looking after turntables anymore, which is a very sad thing. id smash a club to pieces using serato with turntables, but my sets are very average with cdjs, suppose i better get practising for the worse to come
PROMOTERS ETC. SAVE THE TURNTABLES

Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
thats really shit. i've been DJing with traktor for a while cos i enjoy focussing on other parts of the mix (i know, i know, don't bother), but i was really thinking of switching back to pure vinyl, this is making me think twice.

must say i really dont agree with that
Cd players are way more stable, find it a lot easier
shame about the problems you guys have been withnessing
must say i dont really withness a lot of problems except from feedback on the needle or something
im staying with vinyl (and some cds if i play dubs)

Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
also the sound quality you get from vinyl is second to none, so much warmer and nicer sounding
Re: DJ Youngsta - using CD's now??
My mate was talking about how he and all djs he knows who play on cdjs just look look at the digital display telling them the percentage speed difference and just bump it up and done by the same amount till the get the right bpm each time. It's lazy and it shows to be honest if someone's just standing there mixing with no effort. They don't seem to get into what they''re doing.dj phonetic wrote:plastician wrote:With all due respect, it takes the same amount of skill to mix CD's as it does with vinyl.
