i agree with white light i dont think its reached its high yet, i still honestly dont think its found its feet.

dubstep is still new ( i know its got a good few years on it now but compared to alot of other stuff its new) so there is so much room for it to develop and change, its happened with dnb and u can clrearly see it happenin with dubstep.

its not a bad thing tho i personally reakon its a good thing cos yeah you might not like some "types" of dubstep anymore but thats your choice, at the moment im right keen on the heavy stuff (borgore, bratkilla etc etc) but i know there are heads who absolutly hate it, there are so many different sounds you are bound not to like it all.

thats where the passion comes in, if you really really like dubstep or any music for that matter you will be botehred to search through the lot and use your own judgement wether u like it or not, so many people are chatting shit like "brogore ruined dubstep" when he did exactly the opposite he brought it to a whole new level and yeah probly alientaed most of the crucial scene but its just like jump up vs liquid.
its all personaly preference and when people start to realsie that and stop hating theri own scene then things will get a lot easier.

also people who catch the dubstep virus and bring their whole new take on it excites me, people liek doorly and jack beats known for hosue or whatever they do have brought thsi crazy blend of electro dubstep stuff that is sick. but the more people who used to be in to different things (dnb, garage, grime) have all started liking it cos its got features that they like and hten have taken and adapted to suit dubstep to theri tastes, thats why i like it. always evolving.

when the scene splits into its recognised "jump up" ,"liquid", "tech" "deep" woteva people will find it alot easier to find and buy msuic they like but until that point everyone is just gonna stay angry and blagged cos its still all grouped as one.

i went off on a right tangent then but i hope you get where im coming from. :D

Musically, though, it's still evolving and getting better and better. The problem is that those artists who makes things go further without giving too much importance to the rules probably won't ever be popular in the scene.

Same thing happened with DnB, same thing happens with most genre. Artists who pushed DnB to another whole new level like Richard Devine or Squarepusher won't ever be part of the DnB scene...they are much more than that.

proper exactly right

now someone lock the topic and everyone copy this down for the next time it surfaces.

Problem with Borgore is that he's not evolving. All of his track revolve around the same thing: calm introduction / BIG DROPPPP!!!! / repetitive midrange agressiveness (wich sounds pretty much the same in all of his tracks) ... He's not a bad producer, but I think a lil' more diversity would be interesting.

I'm also one of those who hate most of the "agressive" dubstep. Not because it's agressive, but because most of the time, it's produced by people who are trying to get "more agressive than the other" by using the same rules. Excision is a bit above that. Goth Thrad (Mind Construction, live improvisations) is FAR above that.

To be honnest splitting the genre will probably help people to stop fighting each other about what dubstep should be, but it may as well categorize artists way too much by creating new rules. Music doesn't need rules. The best producers are those who can't be put in a category easily. Most of my favorite dubstep producers can hardly be considered "dubstep" or anything else for that matter. Saying that Boxcutter makes dubstep sounds like an insult to me.

not even close to peaking. not going to read all the back and forth in this, just going to give my opinion.
although dubstep has been around going on a decade, its just now reaching the masses in cities around the world.
some friends and myself run Atlanta Dubstep. Over the last couple years, we have made a huge impact on Atlanta's dance scene because of dubstep. 2 years ago, you couldn't get a dubstep dj booked. now its getting to the point where the most bonker parties, and the most sought after sound in the ATL edm scene is dubstep.

there's 6billion people in the world, not NEARLY has dubstep peaked yet.
its just getting started, in a world view.

I Reckon Dubstep Has Reached A Major High Point But There Is Still Time For It To Get Bigger Especially With More Artists On The Scene

aaaarggghhh...

this thread is pretty much the reason why people end up running away...I've seen it all... jungle is dead , hip hop is shit , the death of vinyl ...now this and guess what? 20 years + and we still buy the records we love, throw parties, DJ etc etc every fucking weekend....leave us alone to do what we love.

oh and for the record I am pretty much shifting every single 'dubstep' (whatever the fuck that is) record purchased between end 05 thru 09.

and you don't stop....
