I need a REALLY good dubstep mix

Post by WatchYourStep » Thu Aug 05, 2010 7:24 am

It's no secret - most dubstep mixes out there suck balls.

I've found very few REALLY GOOD dubstep mixes to listen to while driving/studying/dog walking. I've even tried my hand at creating this mythical, all-encompassing "perfect" dubstep mix, and haven't succeeded. Yet.

In my mind, the perfect dubstep mix should:

1- Tell a story (shift mood and tone throughout the mix)
2- Vary in intensity
3- Be interesting; grab people's attention
4- Be absolutely spot-on perfect in the transitions
5- 50minutes < length < 74minutes

So would anybody out there like to shine the spotlight on a dubstep mix that they feel is particularly fantastic?

Muy apreciada!

(P.S.: No Fabriclive 37 or Dubstep Allstars recommendations plz)

Not sure if you'd call this dubstep cause it has some dubstep, some techno, some grime, but it's a very good mix:

Also this one, http://soundcloud.com/dj-phonetics/dubs ... e-mix-viii

Honestly, with Skar and Phonetics you can never go wrong.

A few mixes from the Solitude's Ambient Dubstep series are really good and fit the length.

OK, I did a mix recently called 'Summer Snapshot' that should (hopefully!) fulfil those criteria (although I would never say it's the 'perfect' mix). it's 51 minutes, and it goes from moody half-step through some more up-beat, bouncy stuff, some 2-step, then 4/4, and then back to some deep steppers material, before ending up with some tearing Amens. see what you think:

The final Ruffage session is about as good as you'll get. I've played at least some part of it daily since it was on air.

Soundcloud

Here's the last mix I did of 09, it's not your stereotypical dubstep mix. It explores a lot of the related fields while staying true to the bass.
