Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
yeah, i've pretty much thrown in the towel. made a cool beat, but just not feeling elec7ro or any of the plugs (nor getting any love from them). can't make anything that doesn't sound like a fart taking a shit. i might post up my beat, maybe with a little progression, but if i can't apply myself 100% to a project, there isn't much sense in me continuing. disappointed as i was pretty stoked about the contest.
anyone know of an elec7ro tutorial that isn't "justice bass on elec7r0" only to make a "bass" that not even justice's farting shits would use?

Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
I'm loving this comp now, once I got into it I started getting some really good ideas!
Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
just to make sure i didnt misunderstand the rules, lets say i made a synth line with elek7ro and exported it as audio, can i chop, reverse and/or timestretch it.
ie does the second rule only applies to the drum pack and break or to any sound made with the pack provided ?

Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
That will apply to anything you put into a sampler. Basically at no point can you use ANY effects or synths or samples other than those provided. You can resample but you cant resample and then decide you can do whatever you like to that audio, you still have to only use the designated effects pack to alter it!!You can use your sampler to capture, stretch, re-pitch, reverse, or chop the samples, but using native DAW/sampler processing to do anything like bandpassing, phasing, flanging, chorusing, gating, compressing, reverb, delay, etc. is not allowed*.
Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
nice contest idea. where do we submit/post?
Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
cool, might get on this.
edit: one question though. is looping in sampler allowed/can i use another program for finding looping points?

Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
Personally I assumed it wasn't allowed as your essentially creating a wavetable synth then and it will significantly reduce your need to use the electro ting which is the whole point of the exercise. Final say is down to alphacat though. Trust me, you really don't *need* to do that though, the provided synth is plenty powerful enough.apastrat wrote:cool, might get on this.

Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
got pretty psyched up for this and also found it quite uninspiring for Dubstep, but givin' it another go with quite an abstract type thing.
Effects are pretty tame though...

Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
yeah he didn't specify, but uploading it somewhere and sending the link via pm is standard for the DSF sample comp. So fair assume the same method here.dfaultuzr wrote:it seems alphacat forgot to specify how to submitbustadoug wrote:nice contest idea. where do we submit/post?

Re: DSF VSTi Contest #1!
Seriously though, what is the confusion, it's a little simple 2 osc synth. Its got sync and sub oscs, that's as exotic as it gets.
