Best program to produce dubstep?

Post by KillaKeeps » Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:47 am

Just getting into starting to produce dubstep myself, don't have money to pay for mad equipment, so lookin' for the best program to get into producin' my own dubstep tunez. I already have FL studio 8, just got it, full version and everything, just trying to get some input on some more experienced producers out there. If anyones got some suggestions on programs, or tips for FL studio, feel free to drop me a line. Email is KillaKeeps@hotmail.com or just drop me a PM here, i'll be checkin' in daily.

Thanks in advance,
Keeps

Also, as for which program to use for dubstep. Fruity should be fine, if you wanna hear lots of producers bitching to each other about which program is best then check this thread out http://www.dubstepforum.com/my-daw-is-b ... daw%20wars

moral of the story is, it doesn't matter what equipment you use, only what you do with it and how well you know it.

Depends on the user entirely. Different DAWs will suit you better depending on how you generally process information. You gotta do the research yourself mate XD nobody can tell you which one will suit *you* best. Try lots of demos and read lots on this forum is the only advice I can give.

If its ease of use you're after, get Reason

As far as ease of use I would have to say FL is definitely one of the more "newbie" friendly DAWs out there. Of course, I could just be bias as I'm an FL user myself, but I think that was part of the Image-Lines main focus was to create a system that would be easily picked up even by absolute beginners. They will all require some work on your part to learn, but just make sure you pick one that suits you.

I would suggest trying as many demos as possible before making your choice, and I would suggest making your choice before you delve to far into it. Don't look around for posts saying, "This DAW is the best to use for *insert genre here*", as these statements are based entirely on opinion and their learning process.

Personally I've never understood fruity, tried demos of quite a few programs and I managed to make a wee tune in cubase, reason, ableton, logic, reaper and renoise but fruity and acid I just couldn't understand, something about how my mind works I guess. Never even managed to find the bloody sequencer XD

i disagree, reason is pretty tedious.. the most tedious DAW i've used, but i love it because it replicates the interface of the analogs im used to..

would definitely not recommend Reason to a rookie unless they just want to mess around with presets

I dont think there are many who share that opinion though. Most seem to find it very user friendly, tis great for getting ideas down quickly. But everyone has their opinions.

@ Op. Download some demo's mate, find something you like, cant go wrong that way.
