i love the footwork stuff. some really cool rhythms. i like that its a genre of music which is pretty much all about the dancing, if you watch the videos its none of this DJ worship stuff, which is really refreshing, as good as it is, the music is almost inconsequencial.
to be honest i just think a lot of the DJ spinn, roc, nate and leatherface stuff is just fucking awesome as well. i went on a binge the other day and spent about £50 on it.

i just hope it doesn't get raped by the UK underground. most people, like me, really have very little real knowledge of the history behind the style and i can easily imagine the uk underground just picking up on it cos its 'cool' and totally missing the point. having said that, girl unit has done some excellent juke remixes.

i'm sure its gonna kick off one way or another, it'll be interesting to see where it goes. i thin chipmunk has some pretty good jukey stuff recently too as well? if anything i think it might start influencing this new wave of instrumental grime we're hearing.

thats my two cents, i'm surprised there aren't more people here feelin it. not everything needs a drop you know :p

I LOLed. Troll song?

PS. The DJ Roc album forthcoming on Mu is banging. You'll see... you'll all see. This comes off like a threat, maybe it kind of is.

really? did you just join us  i know where juke is from, that doesn't mean it's sound wasn't influenced by other near by scenes

you could have gotten away with saying this two years ago..
now days juke is made everywhere
it's like saying dubstep is a london thing...
music is pretty global

not really. the term juke is primarily used by chicago artists, whereas the same exact music is called ghetto tech in detroit, bmore booty in baltimore and miami bass in miami.

yeah, i agree...localization of genre names is a very old tradition. but so is juke. it's 90s rave music.

No. There is a huge difference between Juke and B-more club.

yep, and the scenes feed off of each other is all I(boxxy) was sayin

get me? i've been loving juke/footwork/whateverthefuckyouwanttocallit since 06, people in other cities have been making juke for a bit now, it came from chicago, but it's all over now. certain producers across the pond have been all over it as of 09, can't wait to see what mutates out of it

was trying to leave fractal behind, but sadly choosing boxxy as an avatar and a low post count makes people want to argue with everything you say, so i'm going back

are you surprised people want to "argue" with a name/avatar combo like boxxy ;)

mate, i got no qualms, just furthering discussions and posting my opinions on certain matters, whether it be sub-forum names of a message board or a particular sound that is being rehashed again. that tends to happen in dance music, whether it be "electro house", "juke" or "dub/detroit techno"

i might have joined "late" on this discussion, but this is one of many threads that has risen recently on juke music.
