Arranging dubstep for an orchestra

Post by texarlo » Tue Aug 10, 2010 11:05 pm

I am currently trying to put together different medleys of songs that contrast each other and create something different compared to my orchestras traditional classical music. I'm trying to find the PERFECT song to arrange for 5 or 6 parts. Bass of course for the bass instruments for similarity, so on with the violins, violas, cellos. and of course im gna have a percussionist for the clap beat feel.

any recommendations??

I'll throw out the first obvious answer: 'Archangel' by Burial with strings replacing the vocal samples.

Blue Notez is a tune I've always thought might work in an orchestral setting.

i think a lot of the purple tunes would work well since they tend to have the most going on melodically and harmonically

for example, i think an orchestral arrangement of Mad Sax could work beautifully:

EDIT: could someone pm me how to embed yts?
