I wonder where the man himself is to give an explanation for his actions... I'd love to hear what he has to say

Remember that dude that was sampling burial drums and making burial style tunes with them. Back OT there is not really any need to sample other dubstep bass lines, all the tools are available to recreate them as 90% of them are made with virtual instruments and effects alone, but if people don't have the technical sound design skills, sample packs still cut it imo if you use them right.

Yes I meant that he used the samples from that bar 9 tune at 0.26 and 0.29 and then called it his own tune..

EDIT:

some more datsik/excision sounds in here...

LOOOOOOOL damn. haha i cant believe it. but that is definitely datsik , Straight out of his "Retreat" song. thats...just funny.

That Kontakt4 is a mofo.

Nothing is wrong with Mt. Eden Dubstep.

EDIT: had to hear it more than 4 times. Thats just bogus.hahahaha

This is another reason why no one should pay for dubstep

Unless of course the dosh is club entry/hiring the sound systems and live acts

BTW can I clarifiy that although I'd argue that there's nothing intrinsically wrong with sampling basslines, melodies, whatever and that you can still make a good / interesting piece of music by doing it, that tune ain't it. :D

We should get him to do a tutorial.
Basically there are more steps to making a decent wobble than there are for him to make an entire track.

u can tell in each song he 'makes' (samples) , there's this crappy lead that belongs nowhere at the start. then the samples drop in and the kids go crazy :6: :7:

its a fast way to put out a bunch of tracks that all sound the same. limits creativity imo.

now, now, as lot of people said, what this kid does is just laughable, there's no point arguing... but this debate is interesting (i think) so lets push it further: i trust most of you know who SBTRKT is, and i think we can agree that he is a respectable artist...

i was completely amazed when i heard this tune dropped in a mix:

then reading the comments (yeah i read the youtube comments cause i'm a pervert like that) i realise that the tune is kind of a blatant rip off:

yep, he pretty much just layed a beat and a sinewave on their track...note he didnt titled it as a remix

also note he re-did goldie - timeless and idk which radiohead tune in similar way, tho to be fair the wink was more obvious for these

so, opinions ?

also, dont get me wrong i'm not trying to diss sbtrkt (i'll be the first to buy this tune if it ever gets a release :D )

The difference is SBTKRT actually has talent unlike that cyrex kid he is just straight up stealing SBTKRT took something completely out of the norm and turned it into a legit dubstep tune he was obviously was touched by the melody and wanted to expand on it thus he did and it turned out very good. I find nothing wrong with what SBTKRT, IMO.

How cheesy are those tracks/samples?

People have been cheeky with peoples music from day one and its never going to stop while punters dont give a shit.

That bass sounds like a million other people uisng Massive right now so who gives a shit. Every geek with a computer is making 'dubstep' and guess what, it all sounds like that! they should start calling it gimmickSTEP.

Brick wall limiters on everything and the latest plugin bla bla bla. :u:
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.
