Probably some of the most inspiring and interesting music I have heard in ages. The fact that it is so relentless, lawless and somehow seems to resonate with a sound not too far detached from Jungle, but at the same time, COMPLETELY detached from jungle, is amazing.

I mean really, a tune that repeats the words..'GI'DAT MAN ROOM, WHY U IN HIS FACE?' over and over and on the switch turns so gutter, just needs to be played again & again.

I personally find the repetitiveness one of it's best qualities, so addictive..

The only critique I have really is the over-use of the kanye west/dipset pitched up vocals, don't really appeal to me, prefer the more psychadelic, pitched down crack, footwurk annihilation tracks

About repetitiveness: THIS ->

The tracks, on their own, do get repetitive; but if you are DJing juke and you are letting a track run for more than 90 seconds, you are doing it all wrong.

It's all about using them like dj-tools because they kind of are dj-tools. Deejaying juke/ghetto tech/etc. well needs some skills 'cos it's about improvisation than just systematically playing intro -> drop -> breakdown-type tracks.

For dancers footwork tracks are like "dancer-tools" to do their footworking, like 8bar grime was tools for mcs to do their bars. This thing is heavily about the context. A culture thing.

I'm not talking about Footcrab or Work them or IRL, I'm talking about the new DJ Nate EP on Planet Mu or the DJ Rashad stuff (audio here http://www.planet.mu/discography/ZIQ285). Just seems relentless and overly repetitive, bit boring and annoying. Am I just not getting it? I'm not being quick to judge, spent quite alot of time listening to what I can and still can't get it.

Thing is... when I look at it as a subculture I see something really exciting and fresh going on. It was the same with grime years ago, but back in then I also wanted to listen to the music in my car and in my bedroom etc. With Juke, I'd love to see people dancing live to it or maybe on youtube, but that is about it, and seeing as no one at my local club can dance to it or plays it that is a tough proposition. I took a juke mix on holiday to listen to by the pool and it just gave me a headache.

THAT SAID... when elements of the sonics of Juke are re-appropriated into grime, 2-step and bass/130bpm it can get interesting... but even then it can be headache vibes for me, if not used in a sparing way. I do like the Addison Groove stuff for instance, but am I right in thinking it is not exactly pure in it's form?

Really? Because I am completely and totally obsessed with the stuff and listening to it at home, at work, in the car... I've lost track of how many times I've listened to the µ-Ziq mix. That was my introduction to footwurk. I played the mix and then just started it over, I think 4 times. I couldn't fucking believe the shit.

@fractal "half-time juke" - that is the dark footwurk stuff that µ-Ziq is repping. Party juke is the stuff that's been around since the 90's and has a clap on 2 and 4. Footwurk tends to have a clap on 3, although they fuck with it a lot.

As far as the dj roc album goes, i've heard it too and if you're into the sound you'll love it but it's not going to win any converts. People that don't get dj nate are not going to get turned around by the crack capone.

i dont enjoy juke and footwork, some songs have appealed to me, but alot of stuff isnt that good

didnt like any of the dj nate album, some good beats but retarded out of time hats and unnessacerily repetitive vocals got too in the way.

hopefully i am just seeing the wrong side of the genre though because im not getting this hype
