My ableton keeps shitting itself

Post by Kromakey » Mon Aug 09, 2010 8:01 pm

When I try to preview or drop samples into ableton they take forever to load, won't play correctly, and freeze the global play button. The only way to fix this is to save, quit, and reload the set. It happens for both single hit samples and full tracks. I just got 20+ new free vsts and aus very recently. I have no cracked music software. And I am running a powerbook with 6gb memory and live 8.

What can I do about this issue? I have a feeling it has to do with my new plugins but I do not want to uninstall them all.

Just move them from your vst directory to a new back up one and see which one causes trouble.

You don't have to delete them.

I tried this but it did not help. I also just installed the new Live 8.1.5 today but that did not help either.

Does it always happen with the same samples? Could be corrupt files.

Do you have any hard drive issues? I have a dodgy external HDD and only recently isolated it as the cause of many of my problems (OS X hanging on shut down, live occasionally hanging, etc). If the samples are on an unreliable disk, that may cause issues.
