This thread is so laughably hypocritical I had to make sure I wasn't reading DOA with a different theme somehow

sampling is one thing, it allows your to drop certain sounds and ideas into a new environment i.e. remix someones vocals and melody etc, but it should be highlighted as a rework or remix. Using a core sample like someones bass and then passing it as your own is pooo. anyone can sample but making your own sounds is the difficult bit. Also if a nice crisp bit of bass is pulled from another track it rarely needs a great deal of mixing down as thats all done internally, you just get the rest of the track to sit right, once again a big no skill shortcut.

I have sampled plenty of times but it is made known who the original author is .

Hmmm this guy needs to be exposed properly, people work fooking hard to produce and are striving for recognition as regular people dont know wat is really involved to make some of these sounds.

As for the comparisons to Mt Eden, I think there is a world of difference between dropping a bass sound into Kontakt and chopping it around (regardless of whether you think sampling magically becomes wrong when its from your own genre) and dropping like 16 bars of a complete track, relabelling it as your own and putting it on youtube.
