this thread needs a poll.

I guarantee there are alot more people on here into drum and bass than house.

There are LOADS of similarities between dubstep and drum and bass, lots of producers doing both, massive emphasis on sub bass, massive emphasis on percussion, pretty much the same sub culture, shared events, the list goes on...

house sub forum doesnt just cover house though, and well with funky, garage etc. there are similarities there with dubstep, lots of house influenced by dubstep, with massive emphasis on sub bass and percussion, percussion probably more so with funky than with dnb and dubstep.

please no. One of the reasons I started visiting and posting here was to get away from drum and bass.

Well I want to get away from hip-hop but it has a subforum here. It's instrumental though that makes up for it.

I voted: yesh.

honestly, i love dubstep, but dubsteppers can be really arrogant. a lot of us talk about how "dnb sucks" and "lacks whomp" and "all sounds the same." i think that all of those arguments are fucking moot. if you're listening to dnb that "lacks whomp," than A) you need to realize that music isn't solely about making the grossest sounds possible and b) you need to realize that there are more subgenres of dnb than stars in the sky and there's definitely some dnb out there with whomp comparable to dubstep. as for it all sounding the same, once again i love dubstep, but most dubstep comprises of an almost identical beat and a wobble bass. i don't think there's anything wrong with going with what's already right, but seriously, dnb a lot of times has much more defined style and intricate stuff going on.

i listen to the two differently depending on the mood i'm in, but when i play a dubstep set at a house party i always throw some dnb in there, and a lot of times people kind of go "WTF THIS AINT DUBSTEP" but sometimes they go absolutely apeshit.

i never got why dubsteppers tend to not like dnb because most dnb people i have heard of love dubstep. i think in america for sure it's the fact the dubstep is this huge fad, this big new thing, and anything outside of that becomes subject to ridicule.

*pant pant* that is all :D no hard feelings i was kinda bitchy there but i don't mean any hate.

Yeah, the american tendency is to just follow the fad. It's gonna be a whiiile before DnB catches on in america, if it ever does. A DnB party at least in my area is a completely null and void idea.

yeah, the house forum is where i find 90% of the "dubstep" i like these days, it's a hidden oasis of quality music and the "house" label does a great job of frightening off people who dislike house by making them believe that thats all there is in there  tbh, i don't think there is even a genre name for most of the stuff that's in that subforum. in that way, it's nostalgic of the eras in jungle and dubstep where anything was possible and each producer had their own unique sound and ideals... before the formulas came... but anyways, back on topic

i don't care if there's a subforum for DnB now that i think about it. neither should anyone else, imho. if u dont want to look in it, don't. easy as that. who knows? we might get some gold amongst the rubble

disagree
why do you disagree?

dubstep came from garage, which is discussed in there, so there is a link already. Funky has influences from garage, grime and dubstep, and funky without some sort of sub bass and percussion is shit.

it has alot more in common with dubstep than drum and bass, its even closer BPM wise you can mix house, garage, funky and dubstep together without having to raise the tempo stick it all at 135 and your good, drum and bass is faster, and i cant really see any similarities with dubstep apart from the sub, i mean not much drum and bass has percussion, its too fast. half time is alright cos you have more space, but there is no room to breath at 170.

also as fractal said, it is where all the good 'Dubstep' is covered.

I've never seen the problem with having a sub forum for drum & Bass/jungle, if you believe that drum and bass had no influence on Dubstep or UK Garage then you are mistaken

i'm going to start a hotdogstep forum, just so that I can make a cheeseburgerstep sub forum on it and get everyone really upset about the audacity of it.

So does it mean that people voting NO want to discourage a conversation between active members on this forum about dnb & jungle and the sharing of ideas, tunes etc? WOW.. shame
