dubstep.fm for one... i basically have a no-mc policy....
really? your show, or the whole station? i gotta tell you dude, that sounds booooring lol..

i mean, of course somebody on the mic CAN be obnoxious for a million different reasons... but usually its mad fun imo.. seems like a distinct difference between some internet stuff and a real pirate...

anyways, your station, your niche, more power to you dude... idgi tho
for the whole station... ive watched the stats before when i would allow mc's and i would watch as 100+ listeners disconnect...

i didnt say that i didnt allow mic usage... the djs are allowed to give shouts, tune id's, station id's etc... just as long as its not too excessive....

from what i have noticed over the last 3 years... people want to hear the tunes, not someone blabbing over them, and ive seen the stats to back that up.

i have allowed mc's in the past. just to give those listeners that might like mcs something to listen to.. but thats always accompanied by numerous emails complaining about the mc ruining great tunes...

having an mc in at a club night is fine with me.. but thats where it should stay... it doesnt quite work well when the mc is screaming and shouting trying to build the hype when the listeners of the station are sitting in their office chairs or dorm rooms or bedrooms... it just comes across as annoying and ruins the experience for many people.

i do understand that it might be a little bit different for rinse as they are also broadcasting via FM.. but even then... cruising around town with that shit cranked and then some mc starts blabbing would just ruin the experience for me entirely... ive tried to listen to rinse in several occasions and i do agree that the tunes they drop are amazing... but i cant fully enjoy them because of the mc's... and alot of the time the mcs are just blabbing about nothing..

anyways.... if your into the mc's, awesome.. rinse it up... if your not... listen to something else!

spot on, well put..
btw, i'm listening to your mix on dubstep.fm, good selection (throwing some old school in the mix) and perfect amount of talking!

im gonna kinda put myself out there and say, yes, this is spot on, if you are trying to figure out why the US just doesnt quite "get it" when it comes to dubstep, grime.... jungle.. hardcore...

crusing around with that shit cranked sounds awesome to me! lol... listening on your headphones on the bus... just chillin at the crib bumpin it, walk around the streets you just HEAR the pirates broadcasting... at least thats what i imagine...

NYC bumps its Hiphop, House, Reggae, spanish music etc on the radio and its just PART of the culture here.... we dont have dance pirates, thats why its not really a youth street thing, and why we kinda just dont "get it".

cause yo... office chairs & dorm rooms lol... ugh.. shit needs to bump in the hood! so it goes, to each their own... my advice is not to have a no-MC policy, just have a no-wasteman policy lol, its a better look
