and then when you woke up checked what you saw in the dream with what actually happened they would be near identical

I believe in time loops and gaps and stuff.
I could have sworn at times the same things are repeating over and over, like Deja vu.. I used to go through days getting them every 5 minutes or so. Nobody can proper explain what it really is, I see it as a kinda gap filler between you and a 'distant you'.
Maybe it could be possible to jump in that gap? who knows.

excellent article that mate, ive read a bit of Popper and didnt agree with it all but the thing that still stands out is that there may genuinely be a limit to human potential, this is something ive thought about a lot, the endless succession of zero's and the lack (thought not total) of greats with outstanding idea's only furthers the point that the human race isn't engendered to much beyond proliferation

also the fact that the scientific and philosophic community generally runs in factions/trends adds to my scepticism, the logical positivists to the relativists to the classical physicists, quantum theorists and string theorists

I thought this was supposed to be about time travel? It has nothing to do with your guys' post-modern/nihilist/pseudo-mystic "Is it real, or do I just think it's real?" Argue for days man, but the answer is that it does not matter. This is a scientific debate, and if you don't think it's real, cool, but we didn't create the incredible machine you're staring at right now by looking at everything and asking "is this real?". The only thing limited by your perception is what time travel really is, more specifically, what function time has in time-travel.

Let's talk real.

First, look at the characteristics of time itself as we experience it. It is linear, and we travel in one direction always, regardless. Also, time as we perceive is relative. I'm sure it's common knowledge by now that the stars we see in the sky appear as they were thousands, millions of years ago, because light can't be everywhere at once and needs to catch up to longer distances. This means that a lot of the stars we see could very possibly be black holes now (Again, this is probably common knowledge, but JIC)

Time travel is completely possible, it's been proven in rockets with built-in atomic clocks, and just as the relativity theory states, the closer you get to the speed of light, the less light, and matter, is associated with whatever happens to be traveling. The faster you go, the less mass the speeding object has. This has all been established in Einstein's theory.

So imagine this rocket, speeding through space, trying to beat light and the very mass it's made of in a race. Now, imagine if SOMEHOW the rocket actually WAS speeding faster than light, and the rocket is leaving energy, mass, and light the light of its homeworld behind. You're covering INCREDIBLE distance!

Now, some simple math.
Speed of light = about 300,000 meters a second, which is 25,920,000,000 (about 26 billion) kilometers in 24 hours.
1 Light year = about 10 trillion kilometers.

Traveling at the speed of light, you can cover a light year in 385.8 earth days (almost a year, durr). The nearest star to our solar system at this moment, proxima centauri, is 4.2 light-years away.

Are you starting to get it?

Obviously this isn't some scientific theory, it's just some conclusions you can draw with basic facts. Theoretically, if you surpassed the speed of light, all the particles that are traveling can disperse due to the loss of mass and you will just turn into more particles floating in outer space. But imagine if we understood the science more and managed to keep ourselves intact. If you're like me, and think it's impossible to deny the existence of other species in the universe, then logically SOMEONE SOMEWHERE has done it.

I know it's a long post, but I'm on topic! tell me what you think. There's just so many ideas that you can stumble onto if you really think about the logistics of it.
