Anyone Know How To Figure Out What Tempo A Song Or An Acapella Is?
And How To Change It?
I've Changed The Tempo Of An Acapella On 'Wavelab' And It Just Sounds Shit...Bad Quality

If Anyone Can Help , I'd Be Gratefull

some DAWs, like ableton, have one that comes with it. otherwise you can download an app somewhere

then just tap the beat along with the track and there you are

logics is pretty shit sometimes though, like with acapellas, sometimes it works better if you get the full song, or yeah tap along to the beat and record it, and then work out the tempo or that, what acapella is it though, try googling to see if you can find the tempo.

Yeah it needs something in the waveform like drum hits to actually work out the tempo, so if it's to get the tempo of an acapella i just use the original first.

if whatever accapella your using isnt written to acompany edm, its probably going to have an inconsistent rhythm, human error n ect. in which case your best bet is to slice to pella every 16/32 bars or whatever and use your daws timestretch/pitch correct to fit it to the grid that way.

I find the Fruity Loops granulizer to be very useful for changing tempo (thats how I slowed down the bjork vocal sample in my signature below). Take a little while to get the hang of it but there are some decent tutorials around. Also, like Basic A said, I like to chop upthe vocal files but if you do this be prepared to have them reconstructed in a somewhat different flow. I find it quite hard to get an exact match to the original doing this.
Tap tempo is easy to use too, thing get a little more tricky if the tune had a more unusual time signatue but thats more rare in 'vocal' music.

unless its from some poppy tune, or rnb or hip hop or whatever, which is almost all sequenced these days, then it should be bang on time. i know the vocal wont be sequenced and have human error but if it fits with the original it should fit with the remix.

Ableton is your friend here.

I use Virtual DJ to get the tempo of a sample. You can also change the tempo and re-record at the BPM of your project. Trim the ends off in soundforge and your done. Works a treat

thats a lot of extra time/dollar spent on software for something you could probably do just as easily in your DAW though!
im not sure but id expect every single DAW to have some way of doing this without having to resort to extra software?
i know Live handles it almost effortlessly, but like someone said above its much easier to get a decent result if you chop up the 'pella into 16/32 bar chunks!

Im saying if your trying to remix Buju or Bob thier drummers hav e alittle different quanitization then your daw.

Really? I alwyas use that thing for more creative stretching, throwin the 'gangster' sample in and making it go -gaaaannnngggstttteeerrrr' ... always would rank the timestretch that built into the audio clip tool as the best bet for vocals.

It comes down to the pulse.. Dubstep is mostly 70bpm.. anything double or half that speed will be in time.. you could play a 280 bpm sample over it.. but the tracks pulse is still at 70bpm
