Agreed, it deserves a little chart action. I think it's pretty awesome stuff like this actualy makes it on the charts over there!

As for the OP I reckon, as someone pointed out before me, that all the clocks in the world will freeze, as time will have stopped. The apacolype will begin

thats not what i was getting at. as i said i rate the tune and hope it goes well, wasnt insinuating anything else. just wanted to think what other peoples thoughts were. no need to be sarcastic about it...
ok. my thoughts are that nothing will change when or if the song in question reaches a certain spot on a certain chart in a certain country. it just sounds boring when you say it like that, so i colored it in sarcasm which basically said the same thing.

You've got it the wrong way round.

It's not doing anything to try and get commercial success.

A lot of dubstep artists do well commercially in this small scene FFS!

It's getting mainstream success off the back of being fucking excellent music.

Excellent music can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of where it came from, or where the listener comes from.

Excellent music gets lots of radio play, and in this case A-list Radio 1 exposure.

More people get to hear it, they like it, buy it.

They find more dubstep music and buy that too.

I'll stop being sycophantic and repeating excellent now :?

bulletin wrote:People who are already frothing at the mouth about how "it's ruining dubstep" / "it's crossed-over, the end is nigh" / etc will froth even harder, and will give themselves a migraine, or an embolism

People who think it can't possibly be called dubstep because it has no chainsaw waveform anywhere in sight will continue to slate it - ensconced in their ignorance, as they are doing so.

People who enjoy it, who are fair-minded and appreciative of the scene will say "fair play, well deserved - at least it's someone from the early scene like Benga making it big and bringing dubstep to the masses, and not some no-mark studio producer making a dubstep-by-numbers beat from a sample pack for a piece of shit artist like Miley Cyrus or the fucking Saturdays."

People who have been into the music for some time will have a hard time 'letting the music go' - it was something a (fairly large actually) niche of people liked and they feel precious about it and see it crossing over as it's death knell.

They seem to forget that the core good producers will still make music the way they always have, that dancefloor and heavy sound system will always trump tinny car speakers.

Good dubstep will sell, bad dubstep will tank. Majors will bring in a dubstep act that hasn't spent years grafting undergound, that act will fail, the major will lose several thousand pounds and back the fuck away. Independent artists will find themselves in demand as a result.

People who have never heard of dubstep before will like what they hear, check iTunes for Benga (first) then branch out from there.

They will come to your dubstep raves. They will pay money on the door, buy drinks at the bar, dance to the music, smoke a joint, drop a pill or some mdma and enjoy themselves. You will walk past them, dance next to them, and you'll never know any different.

They'll get more into the music, like some niches and hate others. Buy some albums, slate others.

They'll find their way onto dubstepforum, and by the time the next big dubstep crossover hit comes around they'll be veterans frothing at the mouth about how dubstep is being ruined and the end is nigh

Repeat ad nauseum
This guy has hit every single point I wanted to make, good show.

Sorry, i'm in rambling mode tonight!

It was your conclusion "it seems it's gone back to the beginning just to get some commercial success.." that I was replying to.

My point is that they're not doing anything to actively seek commercial/mainstream success.

Mainstream success has come to them because it's simply good music

i wouldnt really say its cheesy though, i liked the beat before katy b got on it, and i still like it and like her version too, as someone said, atleast it isnt a massive wobbler! and yeah like that dude said, benga didnt make the beat trying to get it in the chart and get himself mainstream or whatever, he made the beat, katy b san over it, it got picked up by radio and played, people listened at liked it, and now it may get in the charts.

Is it me or is it that, ever since Caspa, Skream, Benga, Artwork, and others started doing these vocal tunes (or instrumentals that have been vocalled) - it's reduced the amount of cunting wobble produced by all the "up and coming"?

Or is it a coincidence?

Either way, keep it up guys, my ears are slowly healing.

Thank god. I had to leave for a while. Couldn't stand the music...it lost all the dub.

Remember it's on radio, well radio one because they have a duty to bring sounds to the masses, it was only a matter of time before dubstep got some serious air time. It benefits everyone.

I'm not sure about that statement. I'm obviously glad that people like Artwork, Wookie and Horsepower started making darker garage but I'm most definitely still a fan of the stuff that enjoyed a lot of commercial success...

How can anyone say that's a bad tune?

Why would a good song ruin dubstep, when I heard Man On A Mission on Dubstep Allstars 7, it was a good song, and it still is with Katy B over it.

This is the question on my mind as well  . Maybe they'll turn out just like rappers: each music video they make from here on in will show a linear increase in the quantity of hot women, sports cars and ocean-front villas.

I would imagine they make more money from their gigs

Who actually makes money selling music these days?
