A fucking Don.what would you call ken boothe obi?
But then again,so is "ebonics"(AKA "black english","jive talk",and"****** speak"),wouldn't you say? It's all the same really. When people like Eminem,Mike Skinner, and Lady Sov are on the charts whilst hundreds of young black poets(in the US and UK) struggle to get thier words out there, don't you think this points to a specific dichotomy that basically says,"what is white is acceptable, but what is black is detrimental to society"?freqone wrote:jamaican patios were developed to break free of colonial languages
I have never herd or heard of Ken Boothe!Merkin wrote:A fucking Don.what would you call ken boothe obi?
My missus is straight from yard, im striaght from Surrey. What is the funniest is that if half you lot tried chatting bad word you would get BEATEN by her mum. LICKS LICKS LICKS! STRAIGHT SWITCH ACTION!
White kids chatting patois aint a good look really to be honest...
(although mi like fi indulge a lickle!)
Im absolutely certain loads of people do, and I know for a fact there are man/woman on here who are originally from the Islands but im also sure there are plenty of folk who's only encounter with a West Indian has been buying some chicken at carnival (and if you live out in the sticks somewhere, thats not exactly your fault either!). Being a teacher, i hear loads of kids (non Afro-CAribbean) saying 'fassehole this','Bloodclaat that', cos they heard it on Channel U and think its cool and thats what all black people sound like. Oh, and they think that all Jamaicans smoke weed.....Also don't think i'm getting at you Merkin, but how do you know that the people on the forum don't have friendships or relationships with Jamaican people as well, it seems to mean that you are entitled to an opinion in your case.
