just try your luck at a flea market, chances are pretty good that you'll find some ananda shankar records there

another option i often use is the record stock (i hope this is the correct english word), some kind of vinyl-flea market. file under "world music" which is kind of embarassing anyway (because of the hippies) but last time i've done that i took 7 LPs worth of sampling material for nearly nothing.

Hey mate, I'm working on the same thing right now. Got myself a whole lot of indian records.
I'll upload a pack somewhere once I'm done sorting out.
Lemme know if you're successful in your research.

Totally.
Plus, you might want to check this to get an idea about what you should be looking for.

EDIT: I guess that's a good start.

Swar VST's

Post by paulypaul » Tue Mar 13, 2007 3:39 pm

Its not exactly what your after, but swarsystems.com do a sitar vst.

if course you'll have to play it yourself, of you could use it to add to the samples you find.

Just don't listen to the example songs on the site - should carry a warning.

For asian orientated sample packs you may want to look for:

Deepest India - Vocals
Deepest India - Instruments

there some good sitar bits in their, i personally swag samples from indian classical music cds and really mess with the samples. Best way of getting live authentic sounds.

Hope that helps.

Hey Deadly Habit,
did you give a shot to this pack I gave link to in the previous post?
Might prove useful.
