Kontakt making samples quiet
Whenever I load a sample into Kontakt 4 it goes a lot quieter than it originally was, what's the reason for this?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
Re: Kontakt making samples quiet
By default the vol is set to -6. Bring that back up-to 0
Re: Kontakt making samples quiet
lol!
thanks a lot
edit: it's still not exactly the same as the sample
do you think it might have something to do with kontakt making it mono? because it sounds like it's missing the dimension expander from massive.

Re: Kontakt making samples quiet
No it's on 100 I think the volumes there but it's missing some elements that the original sample had..
Think it could be dimension expander, does Kontakt let you have stereo?

OK so I'm having basically the same problem, except that the volume is so extremely low that it is almost inaudible. The db is set at zero, and all that jazz. I can't figure out how to fix it. Any ideas as to what could be wrong??

Re: Kontakt making samples quiet
the biggest problem I've had with kontakt, is that any file I export from ableton live, simply will not load up in kontakt 4. No errors, nothing - just an empty instance of kontakt. Haven't been able to use it since I bought it over 6 months ago =\

Re: Kontakt making samples quiet
Try hitting the "play" button in the "looping editor" pane - this plays back the raw sample before it gets processed by Kontakt. Kontakt's modulation capabilities are very extensive, so all manner of things could be happening to your sample before it hits the Kontakt outputs (filters, insert-effects, envelope, volume modulation by midi CC's etc etc). Each zone has its own volume (set in the "mapping editor"). Then each group has a volume control ("Amplifier" section of group), this volume can be automated. The output of each instrument can then be routed through instrument-level insert effects. Finally, the individual NKI outputs also get routed to an output mixer on Kontakt.Nyyx wrote:OK so I'm having basically the same problem, except that the volume is so extremely low that it is almost inaudible. Kontakt has a lot of possibilities - unfortunately, that also means a lot of possibilities for things to go not quite as you intended

The reason why the default is -6db, btw, is so that it doesn't immediately pin the meters when you are playing several instruments or just several notes simultaneously using the same instrument.
Re: Kontakt making samples quiet
Ok so I found something. The samples that have a 24 bit resolution are the ones that are playing back extremely quiet. I found some that I had re-sampled as 16 bit a while back and they play back at a proper volume. So I'm confused.....

Re: Kontakt making samples quiet
Odd. I wonder if that's the problem I'm having with my files not playing at all? =\ Mine are 24-bit I think and it just doesn't seem to load the file, period. But only stuff exported from ableton live.
