Post by Garvin » Fri Aug 27, 2010 6:04 pm

unfortunately there's really no scene there. once in a blue moon Bassic will put up someone decent (http://www.myspace.com/bassicboston). the only producers that ever come around are the bigger, mainstream names (i managed to see Benga and Rusko during my 3 years in boston).

for the most part, though, you're out of luck. stateside aint the place to be for this music unfortunately

Get on the fung wah and head to Love for DUBWAR in NYC.

Every first Sunday you'll want to be at the Enormous Room in Central Square, and there is a monthly at Goodlife on Kingston St. Moldy was there two days ago.
You can find the off event at Harper's Ferry in Allston as well.
Keep your eyes peeled homebot.

Incorrect broseph, there's dubstep every weekend night in LA, don't judge all of the states off of Boston or you're going to have a sad view of America

what frank said.. unfortunately both monthlies are 21+ but thats the way it is in the states.

in the past year harper's had sub swara, moldy, benga, dub war crew, those were the 18+

pangaea played at a bar earlier in the summer

its growing but mostly towards the jumpup direction (datsik and excision were in cambridge separate times this summer, rusko), also bassnectar comes a couple times a year if thats your thing

Yeah the 18+ is tough but it isn't all negative. Subduction productions have some huge connects and this fall is going to be VERY good! Obviously I don't want to spoil any suprises but they were the ones to bring Roska, Pangae and DJG all in a few months so just find their facebook and stay locked.

Bassic has always been consistent but just slowing down a bit but if you do your research you'll see they have brought in MANY big names and not just main stream wobble. Bassic has roots and will continue to stay that way.

The scene is as good as you make it and I'm one for putting in your heart and soul into it if that's what you really love.... Also the fungwa is still recommended. Gotta catch DUBWAR ;)

I was hoping this was Boston, Lincolnshire, UK. As i run a night in the town, had Flux Pavilion last month, have Funtcase this month and then Stenchman booked also :)

But its MA, so whatever...

Not saying they arent there brruda, but im speaking in forward terms - the nights have been there and even as prism pointed out, may be slowing a bit, but the last 2 months have seen the jump up kings roll through for the first times and some even sell out

on the bright side more jumpup exposure leads to a small minority looking past it and discovering the good shit which will help the demand....
