being all the way from the pacific northwest of the united states, i find reading a lot of these posts interested for the slang. i recently met a guy from london... and thought i'd ask him what he knew of some of these words, and what he thought of them and the people that use them. he said to me that the words "safe" and "ez" were used by chavs. and then he explained that chavs are equivalent of american white trash.

found it somewhat interesting. for one, american white trash in modern days rarely turns up any deep, intellectual or interesting art or music, and have a very narrow world view. people on here seem to be interested in those things, and improving upon them. so are british degenerates just innately better than americans? or is this guy off on his assumption? for the record, early on i found out that he listens to paul van dyke.... ew

im also just a little bored and tipsy so dont mind me if this is annoying

Haha..he's way off. I say ez and am certanly not a chav.

A chav is usually a kid/teen who will wear as much cheap gold as they can , about 100 soverings on there fingers ect. They'll have the finest fake burberry garms they can find..check'd pattern only, and a potty mouth as an accessory..

Thats my term on them anyway..

so a chav is uneducated, poor, and superficial?

yeh the closest equivelant is white trash. except they live on council estates, not in trailers. only gypos live in caravans.

they do say words like easy and safe... but so do a lot of other groups. and the words and phrases of chavs are regional, as with non chavs.

Here is their king and queen. He's Wayne Rooney (ultimate chav name), football player extraordinaire, and she's Colleen McSomething. She was on Celebrity Big Brother despite not being a celebrity and now she's a celebrity for not being a celebrity on Celebrity Big Brother. Or something like that

I would agree most chavs like music to be as fast as possible, the vocal must be a chipmunks. Genre names crack me up .... scouse house / bouncy house / hoover house.

my uncles a irish pikey and he is no where near a chav he is a pikey lol.

Pikeys are Irish in my book, "Sell ya a boike mistah!", "D'ya like dags", etc. The pikeys that aint Irish are just chavs, gold jewellery, plastic traksuit, "Burberrins", very little exhaust on little car reads max power magazine, no long way around it!. My mum meets loads of Pikeys because she works in Kingsmead primary school, there are a a lot of Irish travellers on the Kingsmead estate, but she'd slap me if she heard me call them pikeys!

agreed rudies did have it first. along with the hoodup and af1s/dunks with thick laces

and yes your right pikey is an offensive term either angelo-gypsy / tinkers are what they call them selves i beleive.

Still ther've got alot of money brand new caravans with land rovers pulling them.

i like my chavs traditional. if they're wearing hoodies and AF1s and playin 50 cent out of their renault 11s they just aint chavs to me. oooooh i do love a renault 11. and the renault 5 actually. small... but AMAZINGLY comfortable seats and a stashpot in the centre of the steering wheel

one of my freinds firsts cars was a renault five f reg

looked like an upside down skip

and i know chavs aint real chavs no more ther've mutated into a new strain the "rude chav" the ones with there phones playing either bad grime music or worse commerical hip hop.

i heard a 14/15 year old with the clash on the other day it was a pleasent surprise.
