Admittedly I'm new to Albino and maybe i'm just enchanted with it because of the novelty of non-Reason synths. But i love it's filters, mod matrix and oscillators.

I also think Thor is a mess visually and I don't like the mod matrix or sequencer. And I can never get it to work as an insert, I route audio in 1 and 2 to the filters 100% and nothing comes out .... ehh

Subtractor is my long time go-to for bass.

For some clever reason, Props decided to only allow users to use Filter 3 as an insert on Thor :?

Fucking gashment imo, hence the need for a dedicated filter unit with all of the filters available in Reason + built in ADSRs/LFOs..... But fat chance of that happining for at least another three years

ugh, wonderful. I wondered for a long time why that wasn't working but didn't bother to look it up so thanks.
I usually grab a maelstrom for its combs, but I wanted the formants in Thor to experiment with different envelopes. So I get one filter, unless I use more Thors. Blahh.

i think the argument is now that...whatever you think and work with best will be your favorite DAW.
reading these arguments for and against different DAW's makes me laugh a bit, (not allot...just a bit)
most producers i think will combine DAW's so fuck it.
doesnt matter any way, i use logic not saying i make sick beats or anything, but i used to use reason, i was deffinately limited. with logic there is so much you can use. also you can rewire reason through it!
anyway im off.
IN A SHIT!

Who are you, fucking Rusko?
I can't seriously believe that there's studios running strictly on Acid Pro, and I definitely wouldn't believe that a school trying to teach people production would ever take the Acid Pro route considering the commercial standard is something like Pro Tools.
My college was running cubase in the actual recording studio but they have acid 6 on the computers in a seperate room that's like an IT room with soundcards and mixers... I found it very odd. That room is a fucking mess lol they have like a ton of free vsts and awful sample packs on there... But seeing as I used Acid 7 to make a whole album's worth of fairly quality tunes I would say that it can't be THAT bad... Don't really get why people slate it so badly (apart from "Rusko uses it, and he's shit and everyone copies him blah blah" shut up Rusko is a badman who has churned out some quality tunes with an EXTREMELY high production value even if you think the music is shit... but anyway back on topic) because I love it for sequencing and mixing down... Up until the point where I need to use some midi my workflow is like a fucking bullet, honestly. And I use Acid for audio only anyway sooo...

But I'm on reason at the moment. I've been using it on it's own... but I'd quite like to rewire it into something. You can rewire it into reaper right? 'Cause I'd certainly give that a go... Because I can never get the fucking drums right in Reason alone, I fucking hate that mastering device thingy that the mixer goes into, it means the levels have to be literally perfect otherwise something's getting drowned out and if you bypass it, it all sounds dry and wierd... ugh. So if I could treat reason as a vst 4 teh wobelz that'd be awesome.

I'll stop typing words now... Far too much caffine...

I'm still new to production so I'm still trying to find out which DAW I favor.. so far I've used Reason, FL Studio, Reaper & I downloaded the Renoise trial yesterday, haven't got around to playing with it yet. As a complete newbie I've been able to create better sounding stuff in Reason, the drums especially.. but with stuff like basslines and lead synths I can't really get the sound I want easily in Reason, as compared to what I can in Reaper/FL with Massive. I really like reaper, and it may be the DAW I chose to buy (admittedly I've pirated all my software so far but I'm looking to purchase a DAW fairly soon, i'm just deciding which one) but I really can't get the hang of programming drums in Reaper, it's so much easier in Reason/FL.

I really look the look of Renoise too.. and I think it may be the DAW I end up purchasing. I watched a video and was blown away by how fast someone knocked up a track using only his keyboard, which will suit me massively because I LOVE shortcuts.

Installed reaper again yesterday, it is the absolute dogs bollox.

I can't beleive a £25 program is being so much nicer to me than ableton live or reason ever where.

Its like they actualy listen to what people want, its 100% customizable to how you want it, yet is intuative and easy to use straight out of the box.

Futures, why didn't I move earlier?? :i:

logic 8 is what i use but the daw dnt really matter, all about how creative you are with what you got, your knowledge on synthesis, audio processing and sampling skills and how the end project sounds

So refreshing to come to from all the other daw's isn't it?!

One track does all, no tools and stuff, totally custom everything basically, unbelievable routing...feature requests get put in, seriously, worth so much more than the price tag!

Glad you've made the switch ;)

This thread should be retitled "Watch other DAW's twig-like attempts at superiority bounce off the massive hulking hide of the one true power workstation that is Reaper."

I'm gonna sig this. Quoted for truth XD

I'll admit reaper is good and blah blah blah but the interface/intuitiveness seriously sucks the balls of my cutomized ableton rewire setup :p

I am deeply offended that Reaper could be uttered in the same breath as Crapple... :(
