Chopping vocals - Mount Kimbie + Burial

Hey, so I was curious as to how Mount Kimbie and Burial chop and process (mostly how they pitch) their vocals. If you might know what programs / plugins / processes they use that'd be awesome.

Here are two different examples.

what daw are you using? in logic i can just chop up and rearrange everything via the scissor tool in the arrangement view. if you're using ableton you might prefer audacity or so.

the pitching, well there's gazillions of free pitch effects, every daw should have an in-built pitchshifter... and i don't think there's much of a difference between those.

TL;DR: do it by hand, take your time. it's strangely relaxing to spend hours cutting up audio files like scraps of tape.

Seriously, it's so good for this shit. You can chop a vocal, effect it, pitch it down and smooth it in a matter of seconds, its so bloody powerful. I've been experimenting with it recently, it's so easy to mash up sounds with it.

yea treat em like you would a breakbeat, chop and manipulate
i just do it all in audio in cubase or renoise, but you can definitely do it in most daws quickly and in standalone audio editors

I'm running Ableton 8 and Pro Tools 7.4. Aside from running it in my DAW, which I have yet to look up how to do, what do you think is the best standalone for the job. Better yet, if you had Ableton 8 and Pro Tools 7.4 how would you go about chopping vocals?

i do have pro tools, just never use it
just use whatever audio editor you're comfortable with
