i totally agree that the thomas penton samples are tits. big hits in that pack for sure.

You might just want to go the manual sampling route. Grab some Cd's from the library or get some vinyl and find your snares. All my best snares came from direct sampling. Kicks on the other hand I'd say the sample pack route is the best option. And vengeance is awesome for electronic kicks. Also for snares that snap, I'd look at some hip hop sample packs, like stuff from sonic specialists, as I've noticed hip hop snares tend to be snappier than a majority of those designed for electronic music.
