ya a sine wave at the correct volume should do it... but certain frequencies seem to sound fatter than others... there's debate on whether the tail of an 808 is bassier than a sine wave, but it's mainly because of the frequency a typical 808 hits at (50-48.8hz which a lot of bigger speakers pick up well)... then after that it's just getting a clean mix with your other tracks

Try to use a tube simulating compressor. Vacuum tube ampflifiers naturally compress much better than any digital ones do. Thats what some mastering engineers do to squash that signal just right.

ANd he didnt even make sense. 808 debate has nothing to do with frequency because the first thing anyone does after slicing an 808 grain is tune it too a low c :? ... so idk what he was trying to say. 808s sound fatter because they have harmonics. And bokator was saying to use something without any, and that if something has no harmonics (i.e., single freq sine) then theres no need for eq.

Thread necromancy, for no real reason.

The sub in this tune isn't detuned. When you detune in a synth, the speed of the movement increases as you play higher notes. The modulation on the sub stays at the same speed on each note. So my guess is its a simple sine wave with modulation on the volume and some eq

a sub is just a sine wave, nothing else, dry.

The sub is not what you are having trouble with recreating.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

arrangement is eqings dirty little cousin....

maybe ur track is not made so it could have the same sub...

i dont want to sound hippyish.. but this has to be one of the best times to pull the ''do u'' card ... hehe... maybe u should put the sub where UR track needs it to be.... (that really depends on how ur track is arranged when compared to emalkays)

now if u say ur track has the same type of presence.. the above is pretty much what sums it up... also, im prolly not even as far as u are mixwise... but legend4ry's thread about sub is a great help to me ..
