saffire 14

Post by abcgle » Fri Sep 24, 2010 6:19 am

so i got a audio interface to use with my comoputer.

Why do my monitors have to be up so loud for me to get any sound out of it. When no sounds playing there is just the hiss/noise and its fukking me off.

It sounds good when music is playing but because they are up so loud when nothing is playing i get this noise

any help?

So your speakers are hooked up through the interface then? Use some balanced cables. Turn down the mic pres, and only turn up the output/level knobs. Least that's how it is for my interface/speaker setup.

So the 1/4 are more than likely TRS cables I'm assuming....So those are fine. I would just check your pre's, and output levels, maybe switch connections/cables. If theres power cables running over your speaker cables move them....Iunno thats all I can think of...

Edit nevermind....1/4 like headphone 1/4 connection? Those are unbalanced, thats more than likely your problem, cause the speakers are probably active. So my guess is its your cables, you need some balanced cables. I could be mistaken though.

That link doesn't work and I think focusrite's website is messed up cause I can't view it. From the pictures which I can't seem to find one of the backside....Make sure your speaker cables are not plugged into the front of it, but coming out of the back outputs if there is any.....Also I would turn down the gain knobs, and turn up your monitor level.

I'm not familiar with that interface and I can't seem to find a good picture of info about it. But those are my suggestions.
