How is a transient shaper different from an adsr env?
Ok so i'm playing around with some drum layering. Question says it all really. I see some people chucking around terms like 'transient shaper' plugin/vst. how is this different from using adsr env's in ableton or soundforge for each sound for example?

In Recycle it's a compressor. with emphasis on transient design, I guess since they call it a transient designer. It also has an attack/decay control on the amp.

A transient shaper/designer detects the transient or initial hit of a sound/sample and you are then able to boost this initial hit, or lower the sustain, so its got similar controls to an adsr, but works on a different way all-together.,

Yeah it works as a compressor but only on transients right? Whereas adsr is just volume.

No not as a compressor, but as an expander. and adsr doesn't always mean volume.green plan wrote:Yeah it works as a compressor but only on transients right? Whereas adsr is just volume.
