Producer question on FL Studio
Easy guys, just had a question regarding FL Studio. It's a problem I've been having a lot lately since I began using massive.
Whenever I create a synth and it has more than one oscillator, it seems everytime I try to turn the synths volume up, it overpowers everything else, drowning out almost all of the other sounds even when they are turned up all the way. Especially the drums. I've also noticed that this happens a lot when I use .wav loops in a track, the more I turn them up, the lower the volume all of the other sounds become. When I play the drum track by itself it's twice as loud as when I play it with the synth melody. I have to turn the volume in massive way down for the drums to retain their normal volume.
Has anyone else experienced this? Could this possibly be a hardware issue? I have plenty of processing power, but I am using a rather weak sound card. Or is this just a flaw in FL studio? And if so, is there any way to get around it?

instead of turning other shit up, turn the loud thing down
and you probably still have the fl limiter on the master, its there by default for some stupid reason - turn that off.

Well, it's not even really that loud. It's typically my lead so I need it's volume to be pretty high, when I turn it down it doesn't sound as powerful. But I will try turning off the limiter. I've always left it on, but thinking about it now, it does makes sense to turn it off if I'm trying to get a louder sound. ;p

Turning the limiter off worked like a charm, much much easier to balance all the levels now.
Thank you, sir!

haha, yah this reminds me of one time i was working on a track for hours and had the same issue only to find i forgot to disable izotope ozone on the master which was compressing everything.

If you're not using the limiter, might be worth making your own template without it selected so that when you start a new project you don't forget and get this issue again.
Re: Producer question on FL Studio
If the limiter started messing with your sound you are running too loud.
Read the sub volume thread or whatever it is called now.

If the lead don't cut trought the mix maybe is a problem of eq ,try cutting some highs or something that could be mask another sounds

Re: Producer question on FL Studio
the fruity limiter on the master default setting is pure evil.
Re: Producer question on FL Studio
If it's drowning the other sounds out then it's too loud or you need to EQ/Compress better.Supaflyz wrote:Easy guys, just had a question regarding FL Studio. It's a problem I've been having a lot lately since I began using massive.

Re: Producer question on FL Studio
The worst bit about it is that it runs with a gain of 1.5, instead of 1.
