i lold... so true. All the 'dubstep' producers in NZ are pretty shit tbh, they just follow either the pop bandwagon wub wub wub BS or their productions sound a little.... errr 'lacking' if you know what i mean. The only decent producer we have is Optimus Gryme, but even his productions dont match up to the quality of the tunes coming from the UK.

Its sad really.... i think our DnB is on par with the uk.... but for the love of God, we cant make anything decent at 140bpm

*EDIT - Im not diggin at Optimus either btw, top dude and knows how to get a crowd moving. Personaly though, im just not a huge fan of his studio work
Truth, Dutty Ranks, Swervy, OOGun are all top notch in their productions.. gotta listen to more than just straight 140 and a wobble..

to you and the mt eden guy that said "keep going bro you are only giving us more exposure"

how is this exposure good. they get destroyed left right and centre by the people that make the scene (the listeners).
They are trying to make dubstep how is getting constant shit "good exposure" .
its just going to make people relise how crap they are

Let me put it this way, if it wasn't for all the bitching on this forum I would've never heard of Mt Eden and felt the need to search them on youtube to see what all the fuss was about. Now, seeing as music is subjective it wasn't really my cup of tea but imagine if someone did the same as me but actually became a fan :o
You must have heard the age old saying "There's no such thing as bad publicity", I'd say that's pretty relevant here.

Yeah man, and Optimus Gryme’s production levels are easily at the level of any of the other established international producers.

We've got a bunch of really great, imaginative producers in NZ. You'll find a lot just don't have the means to promote themselves or get their music heard.

Bad publicity is the only form of publicity for some of us not pally with the right radio djs etc

I'd guess a huge portion of the publicity of Mt Eden, Borgore etc comes from hate so keep hating if u want them to get even more popular

Mt Eden use this service to get youtube views

http://www.youtubeviews.co.uk/youtube-p ... ube-views/

anyone with any online marketing knowledge generally uses these services to boost views.

watch teh first 48hrs of a video - if it gets a high enough number of views in this time then it becomes 'popular' and self sustaining to a degree.

pretty cheap service to use really!!!

get your keywords right and off you go!

look what i wrote was my personal opinion, and you cant blame a person for writing it either (because im pretty sure that was the whole point of DSF, 'talking dubstep', not 'trying to make everyone happy with your posts').

At the end of the Day Mt eden are shit, and because of them ive seen ashit load of 'look-a-like' producers pop-up all over the scene attemping to create bare fame from shit productions and terrible remix's (not just in nz, but everywhere).

and on a side note: ive always been a big fan of you too lol (the set you played at ramadanman @ cassette was dope)

NZ has a fuckload of solid producers. Stop smoking so much crack/dick.

On top of the ones already mentioned theres: Crushington, Alexis K, Olie Bassweight, Cheshire, Sick Cycle, Undertow, Joint Forces...

All international level production stz, and all signed to major labels.

For a country of 4 million people I'd say thats good going.

We have noob producers like anywhere else. ie Mt Eden. Which I'm somewhat glad they got removed thus can no longer gloat and will hopefully put them back in thier proper place a but.

you'd think they'd edit their latest youtube video or something, IF they actually have been removed from the record

@Nevalo you're right about opinion, you just have to be careful that you don't come off as opinionated. A statement that generally coats or seems to coat all NZ Dubstep producers (especially when there are so many with diverse styles) as being shite isnt really a good look. I wont make any comment on Mount Eden either way, seeing as I live in Mount Albert, but as you mention NZ isn't the only place in the world where hype-crazy bandwagon jumpers are producing crap because they think that's what it's about...

Glad you enjoyed the set @ cassette - a lot of which was local stuff, mine or LQue or PVans or Dutty Ranks, but I dont count cause I'm Nigerian

uhhh.... wtf are you on about.... if the scene in auckland was so good i dont think Mt eden would be playing at RnV, its a fucking joke.

look there are guys out there who are pushing a good scene in aux (rollout crew, dubmilitia, Howson, Jethro, echo comapny.) but they are outweighed by the amount of people who just play/listen/like shit dubstep
What the hell has Mt Eden playing at RNV got to do with the rest of the Auckland scene? It's pretty simple bro, they get booked because they pull big crowds and are popular amongst the RNV audience.. It's not a reflection on any of the other people out there working hard at their own sound. Auckland still fucken owns, 2010 has been a great year, there's been some amazing & inspiring nights in the club this year..
