Re: Had Sleep Paralysis Last Night
the dream world is a different part of the real world where time and space are flipped so that in this world we are free to move in 3 dimensions of space, but time is like a conveyor belt and in the dream world we move through 3 dimensions of time and space is like a conveyor belt.

I beg to differ. I've never been awake during sleep paralysis, I've been dreaming that I'm awake in the exact same position I went to sleep in.
But what do I know, I don't understand my subconscious well enough.

ENLIGHTENING POST AHEAD
guys, sleep paralysis ain't as mysterious as you might think. i had it a few months ago and it was scary as hell, i thought i was gonna die but then i read about it. (but tbh when you all talked bout the bass noise, i've had that yesterday and the sheer thought that i mightve almost had sleep paralysis again was terrifying)
it's when your body behaves as if its sleeping but you're still awake, that your body starts sending the urge to move a limb or turn around to kinda check if you're still awake or already asleep. if you then still don't move and breathe regularly etc, your will trick your mind into believing you're asleep which will do two things: firstly movement of your limbs will be shut down, otherwise you'd be doing the same motions you do when you're dreaming which would of course wake you up. so you can only move your eyes, it's hard to make a sound etc.
this by itself is horrifying especially if you don't know what it is BUT the second effect of sleep paralysis is that your brain will begin to visualize your thoughs, as in hallucinating, as in dreaming. you're still looking at your room probably so your visualized feelings of helplessness and fear will materialize in some way, for example some fucked up hag. maybe by then you've already fallen completely asleep into a full-blown nightmare, she's screaming at you, you wake up being like
the thing is, you can actually induce that state actively by extreme discipline, not moving and breathing completely relaxed etc yet still keeping your mind sharp and awake. if you then feel the sleep paralysis kicking in (your body will feel strange at that point) you can try to slowly hover out of your body without moving it. by then you will have already fallen asleep but your mind is still awake. you are now in a lucid dream and can do everything you can imagine, though it's hard to keep the dream 'stabilized' (i've reached lucidity once in my life but drifted off into normal sleep after what felt like a minute), as the dreaming mind normally works fully associative, it's hard to stay focused.
a pro pos focused, if one of you really manages to reach a lucid dream i've been told focusing your eyes on an object for too long will shock you out of the dream and wake you up because normally when dreaming you have those rapid eye movements (REM etc), if those stop your body will assume you're not asleep.
okay, long post but maybe some of you might give this a try now. it's magic, but science doesn't hate on it

anyway for those interested in lucid dreaming, there's a wikibook guide http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Lucid_Dreaming
the german one is really ace, haven't read the english one yet but i kinda expect it to be better.
that's some really next level shit, imagine having all the time in the world (in your dreams) to make killer tunes or practise dj'ing etc.
if your dream memory is good enough (which can be trained) you could think up riffs and entire tunes at night, wake up and directly start working on 'em on your DAW. bam.
or you could just shag all the girls you've ever wanted every night in any ways you can imagine

Was about to go to bed.
Read this thread.
Decided against it. Pretty fucking tired too...
Re: Had Sleep Paralysis Last Night
Followed one of the videos on here last night to try and intentionally achieve sleep paralysis. Didn't fully fall into dream time, but I definitely reached sleep paralysis as my limbs were pretty much dead and I had the mad buzzing in my head. Had some beautiful visuals for a while (mainly this amazing green light amongst what were really dark clouds) but I think the fact I had music on was keeping me from properly disconnecting. Big tingz in all, made me less fearful of the experience anyway.

I don't think anyone is ever actually awake during it, no matter how realistic it feels. I may be wrong but I assume when it happens you're in a very lucid dream which is why it feels like you are awake. I have learned to use the sleep paralysis as a trigger to tell me i'm in a lucid dream, so from there I can get out of bed and go for a stomp around dreamland. And I recommend trying that to anyone who expereinces it. Instead of shttin yourself then waking up, just stay relaxed and embrace it and get out of bed and on to your feet. Then try and find your way out of your house and see where it takes you.
Re: Had Sleep Paralysis Last Night
I just make myself wake up.
I'm starting to be able to take control of my dreams pretty regularly. It's badass.

fuck off

Re: Had Sleep Paralysis Last Night
Man, I had some crazy lucid dreams lately. The only problem was as I knew it was happening I could constantly feel myself about to wake up.

Yeah, with lucid dreams it can be hard to not wake up. It helps to try not to get too excited, so if you do find yourself nailin a beauty, don't expect to cum
Re: Had Sleep Paralysis Last Night
I cant say i've ever experienced this and to be honest im very glad I havent.
I did wake up mid sleep one time to see a dark figure standing before me...when I woke up the next morning 3 mobile phones had been stolen and someone had tried to lift the christmas presents.

Is it possible to have a lucid dream and not wake up? Would that be dying or a coma? Could you choose to stay in the dream?

conveyor belt or evolutionary parameter allowing 'change' of state to manifest within the 3 operational dimensions.parson wrote:the dream world is a different part of the real world where time and space are flipped so that in this world we are free to move in 3 dimensions of space, but time is like a conveyor belt and in the dream world we move through 3 dimensions of time and space is like a conveyor belt.
In my opinion dreams and intoxication through psychoactives are the same effect. The shedding of instinctual and survivalistic operation and the embracing of the realm in which everyhting can communicate freely.
Sleep paralysis seems to be the flip side of lucid dreaming, that world has control of you rather than you having control of the world (in a crude sense).
I have mild experience of both but I'm living in a dream world anyway so whats the difference
