"swoosh" before the snare

Post by tbunreal » Tue Sep 28, 2010 11:42 pm

In zed deads song white satin when it drops, there is a swoosh, or fffptch whatever you want to call it :P before the snare, and he does this throughout the tune. Anyone know what it's called or how to do it? Thanks in advanced.

As was just said, you just need to reverse the snare

Load the snare up in to a sampler and most have a Reverse function. Click that and away you go.

You may have to trim off a tiny bit at the end (beginning when it's forward) or put a tiny fade, but probably not!

Reverse reverb > reverse snare, just saying.

Load your snare into your sampler, reverse it, pass reversed audio through reverb, save. Re import, reverse back to normal with reverb tail at beginning. Shhh-Casssshhhh. Switch it up, pan one left, then one right, then one left, then one right... make every other one normal... ect.

I like too experiment with reversing all kinds of things. Too many people these days just reverse a snare and think job done. That said, sometimes that's exactly what you need. Depends on the situation.

One of my favourites. Can go either way though, I've tried it before and fucked it up. Reversed a massive reverb of some piano and stuck it in some emptyish space before a drop that had the piano playing with very little reverb un-reversed in it and it sounded sex. Didn't explain that well but yeah..
