Surpass got an early start in the music world by playing trumpet at age 11. Nevertheless, unsatisfied with just one musical tool, by the age of 16 he had taught himself to play most brass instruments, along with the guitar and bass. After graduating from the Denver School of the Arts (DSA), in 2000, he picked up dj’ing drum and bass (D&B). After a hiatus from D&B and DJ'ing all together, with a relocation to Seatle, he found dubstep in 2008, and he was inevitably hooked. Later on that year he invested in LOGIC Studio and has not looked back since.
The Year 2009 saw the launch of Alterkation Recordings with label mate Eli D, in an effort to expose up and coming dubstep artists like himself and others. Since then, he has been signed to stateside heavyweight Shift Recordings, along with several other notable domestic dubstep labels. Surpass has also released tracks with Dash EXP and has commissioned a remix by none other than The Widdler.
2010 a year of diligence, was marked by his first 12" Release with SHIFT and a solo D&B EP, "Contemplate" out on Onset Audio. Watch for forthcoming EP's and the maniacally crafted sound that is Surpass.
