The track titled "Rain" on my myspace page switches between a 4 and 5 bar pattern.

I've got two tracks done at 3/4 that I'm working on at the moment. One is an orchestral kinda glitchy track that jumps in and out of different time sigs. Might finish it this year, lol.

it's a great idea to fuck with time sig I think. It would be a pain to mix, but not being a DJ myself I don't often have that in mind when composing tunes.

only pain to odd time signatures is you have to mix them with each other or do hard cuts fade out fade ins
perfect example

not exactly as how it is on lp but i think it's 7/8
figure since hey its chopped up amens i can mix it with jungle or some dnb pretty easy
after 2 hrs trying i gave up (wanted this in my last dnb studio mix which this tune alone frustrated me on and postponed)

I think 4/4 is the way to go...but I feel you can create a similar vibe by Strategically placing odd timed kick drums and percussion throughout your sequence.
Offbeat delays on on certain percussion also work nicely.

i really have to say with anything its music and music is art so dont put limits on art thats the thing i have been running into with dnb nobody want to play a odd time sig dnb tune so i am really getting into dub now but any way do what u want if you have a vision and a goal of your music it can be done and there are always people that want to hear it its just about finding them thats the hardest thing in the music industry

peace

7/8 or 5/4 may be one thing,

but I don't believe people could be that confused by 3/4 or 6/8.

I'm sure you have all heard waltz tunes and not been confused.
In fact they were made for dancing!

I have seen people dance to psy-trance that was obviously in 6/8... i think most dancers could handle that without thinking about it, even.

I think it's about a nice polyrhythmic balance. I like having the tune grounded in standard 4/4, (i.e the kick/main hi hats or something), and then using this base to play around with some elements in different time signatures and with odd (i.e. not 1, 2 or 4) loopings. I think it's very fun shit to play around with, andI don't think I've even began to scratch the surface of it yet.

Yes mate. I reckon there's loadsa room for boundary pushing in this area. Bassline polyrhythms are all over Dubstep anyway so I reckon it'd be a fairly natural progression. Loads of tracks have that 6/8 feel so that shouldn't be a problem. Beat matching 3s or 5s against 4s would be difficult and would result in some dancefloor confusion but it could give some interesting results.
