With out Barefiles I would have not found or, been able to share the sound. I always tell people to check out Barefiles and, let them know that they only have to invest time into it; no money. I am kind of sad that I don't have a place to point people right now to check out the sound, like I can with Barefiles.

instant big ups to Deapoh, no doubt!
i got the message, he is not selling hate, just the truth.
i think this is one of those sings Dubstep as music genre is getting mature. and like everything that is good and pure attracts people who see the possibility to make profits out of it. like a flower attracts insects! which is in eccence not wrong. i would rather say not, but money makes the world go round, its like that!
there are people making a living of something that is growing, they have to make sometimes inpopulair dicions, like it or not!
lucky for the listner (consumer) we are able to choose what we buy, what we listen, where we buy, etc... use that power if you feel like it!

this is getting out of hand
im sympathetic with both sides and hold no bias, but demonising is out of line
its unfortunate that this has happened and i feel for what deapohs trying to do in light of the annoying rinse sets situation, but sarah/youngsta/ammunition arent a a couple of monopolising cuthroat business hardheads like everyone is assuming from deapohs conflict with them. anyone whos worked with them will vouch
we should fully support deapoh and all his future work, but people need to stop assuming they know that this situation is part of a ruthless business initiative over dubstep, its a disagreement that neither side could resolve and options were proposed, believe. 'buying' barefiles was just one of the later options approached to deapoh, not a way of monoplosing or getting rid of what he does, thats madness. people are greatly blowing it out of proportion
the easiest choice is to say rinse sets should come from barefiles and rinse, id be happy either way, but rinse reserves the rights to be the sole outlet for its shows and this didnt happen to boy anyone, its the norm in having an identity for a radio station, radio1 and kiss are treated in the same way. its not unreasonable especially since it was established this would happen a long time ago. it doesnt allow deapoh to host rinse sets on barefiles which is a shame, but to say that this was a malicious move by ammunition isnt fair

This is just depressing.
Barefiles has been an incredible resource. Would dubstep have any kind of international profile without that site? God knows the vinyl wasn't stocked much overseas, nor was it easy to lock in to UK-based stations or find local DJs playing dubstep. The easiest way to keep in touch with the sound was to go to Barefiles - and I can only assume that's one of the big reasons why there's now a global market for a sound which originated in Croydon.
The existence of Barefiles was a huge deal for all the artists associated with this scene - if they're getting bookings in Berlin and Barcelona and Melbourne and Tokyo and NYC, they've got Barefiles to thank, in part. And for any organisation which had some kind of commercial interest in it, Barefiles was a wave they were surfing. Barefiles helped Ammunition grow its business.
I never listened to Rinse anyway, except via Barefiles, so they're not going to miss me as a listener. But I won't be buying Ammunition vinyl any more. I don't like the idea of Ammunition setting itself up as dubstep's 800-lb gorilla and using its muscle to hurt other parts of the scene. So I'll be withholding my £££s.
What about the artists? They can use other labels to get their stuff out. It's not like the guys releasing stuff on Tempa would sink into obscurity if they were releasing elsewhere.
Finally, this reminded me of a post on Dissensus from a week or so ago - a poster* there recently interviewed Wiley and asked him:
"Can you explain why Geeneus, when he plays down FWD now, won't drop a single grime beat or garage beat, it's just straight dubstep?
Wiley's reply, apparently, was:
Yeah you know why? This is what he's trying to do: you see what Roni Size tried to do with the jungle or drum 'n' bass scene, where it's theirs? That is what he's trying to do. They're looking at grime going 'nah, it's just kids going mad, forget about that, but dubstep is our thing. I'm Randall. I'm Grooverider'. But really no-one's no-one.
No-one's no-one. Wiley could have put it better, perhaps - but I agree with the sentiment 100%.

Blud I proposed a ton of things and didn't get a reply, they didn't give a shit what I had to say. They simply didn't care, hence why I never got a thanks for creating a lil interest in recorded mixes.luke.envoy wrote:its a disagreement that neither side could resolve and options were proposed, believe.
I dunno why you talk about Radio 1 and Kiss, they let me have the mixes and as said before Kiss upload it to Barefiles for me because they can see it's doing good. I don't care that I don't have the Rinse mixes anymore but it's the principle of what they done, it wasn't done in a peaceful and friendly mannor, Gee sounded like some tnuc on the phone telling me what I can and can't do as if he owns rights over everything the DJs on Rinse do.

Lets be real though its not like its the first time said 2 people have tried to monopolise on the scene, im not gonna start draggin up old shit but certain people know what im talkin about and know this has been goin on for a while now. Lets not be naive.

All i will say is give deapoh your full support in helping to make barefiles reach its full potential, salut the soldier, support the music, and say bollox to politics.
Deapoh, i have nuff respect for you, you let this scene onto so many peoples lives and made it something. Keep it up, you know you have a lot of support from alot of people. Do your ting

Finally lets keep it focused, there are so many people behind the rinse curtain that love this scene and would do anything for it so i salut them. They should not come under the hammer for what is the responsibility of others.
Spread music, not animosity.

4real that would have been frustrating. but i cant express enough that this wasnt a boyment, if they wanted that they wouldnt have invited onboard all that time ago, or even offered u any options. dont get me wrong, i feel u and would have preferred to avoid this subject alltogetherDeapoh wrote:Blud I proposed a ton of things and didn't get a reply, they didn't give a shit what I had to say. i mentioned the radio stations cause kiss and radio1 would get nuf listeners through barefiles which they wouldnt reach usually cause its an underground thing but rinse.fm is as underground as barefiles, so it was decided that it had to be one or the other time ago.
For example if kiss faced up to a download site as known as Kiss is, they wouldnt allow their mixes to be hosted there as it would divide their listeners to different sites. wether people think this matters or not, it does
i just want good music and will support whoevers doing it, the particulars arent always easy but they have to be dealt with.
deapoh i know you'll take barefiles that extra mile in the face of this struggle, but dont take this experience personally
Isnt it funny, how the people who benefited MOST (in terms of exposure) from barefiles were the DJ's/Producers. Ive not seen ONE post from any of these guys apart from Heny, Quest and Zomby. Not one DJ with some form of standing in dubstep has come on here and said their piece. I find that some what even more depressing than what Rinse did. If it wasnt for barefiles, as we've mentioned, would any one really give a shit about certain FWD/Rinse DJ's, or would Rinse even have 70000 listeners or whatever? Im pretty sure I wouldnt be as arsed.
It seems certain people are too scared to tread on peoples toes. I mean, come on, what they gonna do? Ban you from FWD...for having an opinion? Drop your record deal? Kick you off Rinse? Too many brown nosers if you ask me. People need to realise this and sort it out. Youre not gonna get shot for voicing an opinion. Gheeez, anyone would think we were living under Stalins Russia the way some ppl are carrying on.
Maybe all the Rinse DJ's are busy doing things/dont have internet, so I understand not everyone can reply, but it IS weird how Gee signed up yesterday and added no response.
