Last tune had about 50 channels
Like 10 different channels just for different bass

My tunes usually end up having 20-30 channels, not including band splitting.

I try not to judge my tunes by how many channels I'm using though. I used to chuck sounds in just to fill my screen and found that I was doing nothing except muddying the hell out of my mix.

Every sound in their own channel unless your EQing / Compressing things with the same settings. Then you can just adjust the samples VOL. within its settings instead of on the mixer. Sooo... 30+ channels? ^^

usually end up with around 50 tracks...I use lots of layering on the drums (kicks, snares etc.), many pad layers and ofc sub plus add. bass sounds.
I started using send returns and lot some months ago and must say it has been a gift to my productions - usually i'm working with 2 or 3 different delays and 2-3 reverbs and i think it helps giving the track a good 'overall' sound using the same verb on ex. snare and lead synth or something. And it saves you the processing power! :D

tbh mate dont get to worried about counting how many tracks you use as long as the track sounds good and doesnt feel too cluttered. i try not to have a stucture as to what i do such as kick, snares, hats etc and also usually dont have a normal verse/chorus or ababc sort of structure. i think as long as it sounds rich or spacey or whatever sort of feel you're going for and you're getting all the sounds in there its all good, even if you end up using 100s of channels.

Least I've ever had is about 10, most is about 70. All depends on the track!

As many as i need

I don't know if any one has said this yet, as i have not read the whole thread so my bad if they have...

BUT some of my favorite songs sound like they use 100's, and some are just 1.

Peace.

I think a lot of the time my problem is that I take too much out when I'm EQ'ing so I have to make more layers to fill in the space. My tracks sound too empty and bland more often than they sound cluttered IMO.

This ^^^. But on average I guess about 50 or so, but often just holding an audio file that will appear once in the tune. Also tend to duplicate and tweak rather than excessive automation.

:z: but from the looks of it no where near as most of the people on here lol
probably die to using bussing and automation rather than multiple iterations of the same plugins
