Similar artists to Julio Bashmore ?

Post by joeki » Sun Oct 03, 2010 9:42 pm

So, anyone care to help this clueless bastard out.

I know a thing or two about house-cross over tracks released on dubstep labels, but I'm fairly ignorant about that whole style,
so I've got no clue were to begin.

Anyone care to help out?

cheers,

J.

Look in the house subforum. Lots and lots of similar stuff there. And just look through his mixes and find artists, should be the easiest way to find music on a similar tip.

Julio Bashmore makes fresh music and just hits the spot. Similar artist wise check out anything on Appleblims label, Applepips and you should find something similar. Also anything by Martyn.

is it the "housieness" or the vibe ur a fan of???

if it's vibe ur after check stuff by pariah, deadboy, joy orb (his & others on Aus Music is great) falty dl, domu, seiji, martyn, sbtrkt, floating points and also his new bit/other artists on Ten Thousand Yen.

Other more traditional house artists who might have a similar vibe include Luomo, Loco Dice, Trus'me, Red rack em & Booka Shade's movements is essential as well........

All that said i don't think there's anyone (that i know anyway) who sounds that close to him.....his new stuff is amazing and he deserves all the props that are probably forthcoming!!

all that stuff on PTN is bad. also if you don't have Julio's tune World Peace on dirtybird cop that immediate. his remix of California is also wikkid. Some of those db artists have some really good tunes, particularly J Phlip and Claude Von Stroke. but hey i like techno :)

you should listen to dusk & blackdown. not strictly any type of music, but they do play some fantastic beats of this flavor each month :)

Thanks to everyone out there.

I have to come to the conclusion that Julio bashmore is quite a unique artists in the end.

The closest I've come so far are some Moska remixes and edits.
I've seen L-Vis 1990 and Bok Bok at work and they are too housy for my taste and don't have the same laid back vibe.
Cheers for the Martin Kemp tip though, rhythmically it's somewhat similar.
I have most of the Appplepips catalogue and most of the stuf doesn't slow down to Julio Bashmore's tempo even.

Brackles, Kingdom and especially Geeneus are no new names to me and aren't really similar in my opinion (honestly thanks for the effort though).

I absolutey love Deadboy for a while now but that just isn't similar to Julio Bashmore at all (again sorry don't want to sound disrespectfull or ungratefull for your input, just stating my observations).

Pariah has a similar vibe but is more Garage oriented to be honest.

I still have to check out the house artists in Finkthast post. So yeah, it's probably the vibe that attrackts me the most.

The closest reference point stylistically to Julio is Claude Von Stroke

I wouldn't agree too much. Check out his Vice Music mix. The Deadboy - U Cheated/Julio Bashmore - Around blend is absolutely incredible, it sounds so natural.

Cool, sounds like it would be very cool when pulled off, I'll get on that mix asap. And I suppose pure beatwize it makes sense.

Thing is though, With deadboy, I also got more of a garage feel, it isn't as laid back as JB in my opinion. They are both pretty melodic too.

It's this sort of shoegaze-ish vibe that I like about Bashmore though (especially on Footsteppin' and The Moth).
