Honestly, I thought the first was one shit scary - not exactly an incredible film, but it had really innovative scare sequences. Not many horror films I've come across recently are genuinely scary, they all seem like they're written by a bunch of blokes who sat in a room, ordered some chinese, and thought up graphic ways to kill people instead of piecing together a really decent plot.

Not seen anything like Alien or The Mist for a few years - both of these films touch on something really real, and really disturbing.

Agreed, It wasn't an amazing movie imo, but it was proper old school horror, it wasn't this new wave shit where they basically write a 90 minute movie filled with retarded shock moments, shock isn't the same as fear, if I see a horror movie I want to be in a state of fear, not shock, having shit jump up on the screen every five seconds does not make your movie a horror movie.

I wasn't overwhelmed with paranormal activity but it was a solid movie and it didn't rely on stupid shock tactics like every horror movie of the last ten years, and I wouldn't be against seeing a more refined sequel.

i'd say paranormal activity, [rec], [rec]2, and let the right one in have been the better horror movies that come to mind in a hot minute that aren't all shock moments
hopefully this one is good too and not just cashing in on the success of the first one

I'm worried that the Let The Right One In remake will be shit.

I probably wont watch it.

I really enjoyed the suspense the first film created and can count myself as one of the people genuinely scared by it. I dont usually scare easily, if at all, but this film proved my imagination can often be a dark place without the need for graphic violence.

I was just surprised to see an advert promoting the film for release in cinemas so soon. Maybe I missed the hype for this one but I got the impression it was probably a quick cash in and will fail the same way The Blair Witch 2 did after the success of the first movie.
