I am a fully fledged vinyl dj, learnt on 1210's And I love it, nothing compares to the real thing, (to an extent). Recently been spending a lot of time using software and I am starting to really feel it, I can take so many more tunes with me now and have the freedom in my set vinyl just doesn't have room for.

As long as you can throw down hard and still use the technology to its capabilities, I really don't have a problem with it.

been DJing with records and CDs for 10 or so years but i like using it for studio mixes because you can do stuff that's impossible with records or CDs - mostly re-editing tunes, looping sections, effects to smooth out transitions, smooth tempo changes, etc. am going to get serato soon though as i miss mixing manually, it's more fun and more satisfying IMO and burning CDs is fucking lengthy.

I first started mixing on vdj with a mouse and a shitty soundcard years ago, then I started using traktor with a vestax vci 100, this is when i really got into it. I went and bought some decks last year so i could play vinyl as well as using traktor scratch. To be honest i enjoy mixing with fucking anything, youtube, soundcloud... whatever, i just like playing tunes and they make me happy.

I find VDJ is good for finding out tunes that go well together, when to drop them in a set and stuff. But when it comes to live, im a vinyl head 100%.

ableton, couldn't give a shit what anyone thinks or what anyone plays music with at a party or club night, tune selection is what comes first, wikka wikka comes last.

Ableton Live cigarette here.
I don't use it to DJ, I use for live sets (see: Nosaj Thing, FlyLo).

DJing should only ever be done on a laptop if it's Serato.

Traktor Scratch has a timecode which is twice the resolution than any other DVS on the market, meaning that it sounds the most realistic and most like a vinyl.

What reasons are there that mean Serato is the one?
