What's Loefah's take on dubstep nowdays?
Original question poorly put:
please explain to me
why we can't have loefah's post-breakstep reincarnation
taking phaelah groove and depth
made profoundly steppable

i don't think
that you have any fucking clue
what you are talking about.
breakstep didn't spring up in 2006.
and if loefah were to make anything now
wouldn't it be funky?
You seem almost willfully ignorant.
and pretending that you're writing a poem
every second of your life
is the stupidest
most narcissistic
thing I could ever imagine.

I'm going to assume that he is referring to his releases after Jungle Infiltrator and Grime 2. Stuff like Goat Stare, Mud, Ruffage, 28 Grams (w/ Skream). I wouldn't just dismiss it as "808's" though.fractal wrote:^beat me to it

Not sure exactly what you mean, Sounds like you're basicaly after Mud with a skippy 2-step beat underneath it. I'm probably wrong though.
what about this?

Nothing wrong with that in itself if you ask me...pompende wrote:pretending that you're writing a poem

Re: half-time, dark garage & the future of Loefah
well i was slightly joking with the 808 reference, since i assumed he was joking with the breakstep reference since Loe never made breakstep... although if you listen to Loe's most recent mix, you'll hear TONS of 808'syong wrote:I'm going to assume that he is referring to his releases after Jungle Infiltrator and Grime 2. to the guy above me, yeah, there's nothing wrong with it, it's just difficult to have a conversation with someone who refuses to converse in a clear manner, FOR YEARS!!!!
Loefah never made breakstep
quit crying about what producers do
and do something yourself
whether it be in prose
or in the form of a non rhythmic
never rhyming poem-

i think he's referring to Loefah's stuff pre half-step era when he talks about breakstep

Re: half-time, dark garage & the future of Loefah
i bet you're right, and i don't want this to become a gene argument so i'll shut up about that
my point is that i enjoy the direction loe has gone over the years
in fact, what he's been playing lately is more close to his original productions then the DMZ stuff
but maybe i'm just a sucker for some loefah?

Re: half-time, dark garage & the future of Loefah
Minimal prose isn't poetry.
I thought the question was quite clear whilst leaving space for interpretation but I'll waste a few words to explain:
Loefah's coming out here for 3rd (?) time soon, playing with Breakage.
I appreciate his early dubstep, such as Bombay Squad,
which I think of as after breakstep cos the percussion has calmed down,
but, last time here (08?) he was the first to play relentlessness.
I understand he lost interest in ds for awhile so I'm wondering, particularly in company with Breakage,
whether his set could rep the earlier sound or at least go deep & garagey.
Of recent gigs, imo, this one has potential to reset the aggenda.
