Those of you at the SuperRecordings launch party down at The Old Blue Last in Hoxton last night may have heard the first one - 'M.A.N.D.Y.' being played in Throwing Snow's set.

loving this one man, deep rolling bass vibes with a slight two steppy feel to the drums. liking the lo fi filter effect on the sample and the vocal snippets fit the mood perfectly. big track man 8)

Just made the last adjustments to my track, if it doesn't sound right now it never will.

Feedback as always is appreciated, and will be returned :)

Very cool stuff, hypnotic and well mixed. Interesting change at 2mins. Thought the messy part near the end was unnecessary and it could've been a bit shorter/more concise.
That's the best bit!!! Hahaha It's meant to be a climax for the song not exactly a drop really. I don't really like the idea of making "beats". I prefer making songs with a beginning middle and end. Or at least that's what I'm aiming for anyway! The feedback is much appreciated though, thanks!

@toot
@jeff bass
Like the scuttery samples and beat and the bass is nice and rolling but it could with a bit more variety in the notes, 6 minuets is a long time to not have changing harmonies or melody. I like the way you strip it down and bring it back in the middle.
Cheers mate. My thoughts exactly. Perhaps just some slight variation of the bass after the strip down section in the middle? Will have a think on it.

@trike12
@jeffbass Great drums and percussion man, good progression, good vocal samples. Vinyl crackle suits it aswell. Good tune!
Yeah, was not too sure about the vinyl crackle at first but think it gives it a good atmosphere no?

whats with people not leaving feedback ai? give what you expect in return

@nonXero- Love the synth at the start and the bass coming in is really nice. Drums in sound a little tinny but it all works really well with the differnet components coming together, a really nice piece of work.

@CBK81- very filthy indeed, not really my cup of tea but yknow, i'm sure there'll be people lapping it up everywhere. The best ones are the ones with the nice samples in like the church bells which work really well, but it's all abit generic. Maybe try some tracks which aren't halfstep or something, put a bit originality in there

@DJ Raynes- I'm hearing the improvement man!, sounds much better mastered, great finished track (the little "wep" noises are still there though! grr)

heres me at 120- not dubstep, but well Soundcloud

@JDubstep - Bass is over bearing and the snare isn't hard enough, the mids are completely cut out, the main thing with filth is the nice amount of high hats that roll through and make everything have pace. Nice concept with a basic but catchy riff, I feel like i've heard it somewhere before though!

@Mad-eco - The initially obvious thing is that the kick is distorted and too high, drop the levels on that. As a concept for a track, it's just a sub bass with the odd screech. Not really understanding it/rocking out to it.

@Mistayif - Very confused, took me quite some time to get into it, but when it initially started it sounded wrong somehow, but after a minute or so, I'm getting it. I can hear you have a subtle attenuated sub bass on the kicks, perhaps add something a bit more solid throughout the track? I like the acapella, completely makes the track!

@Nonxero - I don't understand the mids on this, have you killed them!? The snare needs to be a little more tinny! Nice smooth roller overall though, just needs a work on the mixdown and what not!

As for my attempt, this is my first time trying double time, and I'll admit, it's not my favourite track, but it's for free download and all feedback is really appreciated although I seem to not really get any advice on this thread.

@dj seizure- I really dig the vibe of the tablas and vocal samples. The water sounds were really cool when I put my head phones on. I do feel like I was waiting the whole time for a more drastic change-up it the song that just never came.

@mistayif- Cool stuff going on with the constant clap line. I like that little rise sound at 1:07. I sort of wish there was a little less going on in the intro so the main part of the track would sound bigger.

@nonXero- I like the dub vibe.

@DJRaynes- Something about the note progession/tones in the intro make me think of playing an n64 rpg. I like that the bass doesn't come in too early, good job holding that back for the right moment.

Soundcloud
I might do another mix of this with some more subtractive eqing and a slightly louder sub.

@jeff bass - ill track, the spacey arpeggios are choice. lots of motion, big track

@mistayif this isn't really my style but i will say your percussion is way punchy and crisp (talking bout vocal chords track)

@djraynes - cool track, very laid back, never really takes off but im guessing thats why its called sunday morning and not saturday night.

heres something new i whipped up for a show Saturday, it uses the Lyn Collins/BMore Club break. Got a big reaction this weekend :D Feedback much appreciated

@ mistayif sounds like a nice tune man, some nice sounds and melodies and synths in here.

@ DJRaynes the intro sounds a little confused, it's like you had 3 good ideas and slammed them all together I think, it sounds good, but I think it could sound a lot nicer if you cleaned it up a little, the track kinda feels like it could go somewhere really good, but i never feel like it really gets there :S I think it could use some more variation. Nice work anyway man, I'm really just nit picking to be fair.

@ dubtronica... A total of 10 posts, a double post on this very page, no crit given in either of said posts = I'll pass on listening to your tune...

Next time, instead of posting up your tune without contributing how about just posting a big picture of you giving us all the middle finger? It's basically the same thing except when you post a picture we don't have to waste any time listening to your tunes.

@ hutyluty this makes me think of vangelis a little, I like the gradual build up and the melody you chose to work with, and the synths actually, I would love to hear a little more in there though, it feels like it could be really really beefed out towards the end. It's a nice tune all in all, again I'm just nit picking. Trying to give people a bit more than "nice tune bro" in my crits it's kinda hard though because most of the tunes up here don't really have anything wrong with them, apart from the really minor things that are usually kinda down to personal taste.

@ MAD_ECO Not bad work for a second track, not a fan of your white noise snare though, and the hi-hats while they fit, seem a little over bearing to me. Some nice sounds you've made. Keep up the good work. Nice atmospheres towards the end when the bass cuts out too, quite dark.

@ dj seizure yea, I like this, but then I like anything with asian influences, it sounds solid to me, I like the atmospheres, the bass line is good, I'd maybe like to hear those sampled instruments coming out a bit more in the mix, the percussion can seem a little overbearing to me, but that's extreme nit picking like. It's a very nice tune man :)

@ hankerins it's not really my style but it's a solid tune, I'd maybe work on those melody lines a little, @ 1.58, they feel a little... amateur? I don't know personal taste I guess. Everything else is solid though I do like at 2.39 that big sliding synth, it's pretty cool.

/\ latest tune

It's not really finished, but it's more finished than it is a wip, so I'm putting it in here, basically, I will clean up the production value, but I'll do it on my own time and probably won't release it on soundcloud, because somebody wants to sign it, so the completely finished version won't be seen till it's released by them. I love that girl Suree's vox, she doesn't have that big pop star tone in her voice but I think a lot of character shines through in the way she sings, and I like that more than a really strong pop-star tone. Plus I'm a fan of reverb soaked breathy vocals so. But yea, hope you guys like it.

:z: Thank you. i posted my track, gave feedback, and all of a sudden 15 people decide to either not read the rules or just don't give a shit about them. All i know is it's frustrating as hell. Here's my track again, it's half time dnb but everything i've learned i've learned from people here, and the doa forum seems like it's for people who are actually good at producing, which i'm not yet. any feedback is appreciated, or you can let me know if you think i just shouldn't post anything other than dubstep. don't really mind.

I'll return the favor. :wink:
