Feedback Thread

Post by phrex » Sun Oct 10, 2010 3:15 am

well - i actually got no idea where to post this. and as this forum is the only one i am registred to (even one forum is too much - i don't need a techno-nerds forum  ) - i'll try sharing this with you - i have since a little while a second pseudonym (amar) for techno stuff - more on the berlin-edge. but very inspired by dubtechno and deep house. around 120-126bpm.
well... this is one of my first tries..:
Soundcloud

i'm not putting this into the feedback thread on the production forum - because a slight feeling is telling me that i wouldn't be much welcomed with a straight beat and 122 bpm although it's really bassheavy.

anyway - to keep it open: post your minimal, house or whatever sort of straight beat!

yeah i like this idea, mostly because whenever i post my songs in this board people just ignore them and i feel hurt by it.

anyway, its pretty good tune for your first foray into the lower tempos, got a nice groove, the only thing i would say is that it doesn't really evolve that much over the course of the song, you should throw in some more stated variation to avoid the main bit going stale.

anyway, heres my latest one, quite different from that, on a kinda tech house-y vibe

let me know what you think

holy shit - you track's a banger.
808 drums? 8)

loving the vocal - not feeling the snare that much tho - but thats very subjective (although it's a really infectious rythm) - loving the break at 3.20
good work on the that moving snare... really feeling the tune. just maybe the outro needs a bit of work?

haha cheers, yeah to be honest i got bored by the outro trying to figure out variation so i just slapped a filter on the snare, i should really do something about it but im so lazy.
Yeah theres a few 808 samples in there, got the cagedbaby retro samplespacks recently so they seem to be in everything i make!

it would be wicked if a few more people got on this thread idea, anyone else got tracks they want reviewing cos im always up for it?

Big ups 4 starting a feedback thread! I dont always produce Dubstep and havent had anywhere 2 post other stuff 4 feedback.

@vulvavibration - Good use of the string sample at the start, and i like the gated melody at the end, i just felt the bass didn't really go anywhere even tho it is nice and deep, but thats just my opinion. keep it up! :)

@ahier - Well produced, its just not my bag, but then i dont listen to much house. Big ups

Here's a progressivey remix of a Suspect tune iv just done, its a bit quicker at 140, coz i like to throw in a couple of straight beat tracks when i mix out.

ah nice tune mate. especially 1:22 - feeling it. only thing i'd do differently is to keep one track as a whole together. your track seem to have to many ''parts'' (they are all huge - but imho they don't work together that well)
maybe keep the vibe going!

00:00-00:39 part 1
00:39-1:22 different
1:22 - 2:17 again different
then in the last minutes you bring a new sound in to the whole track.

it has a special feel, the whole track. but keep that feel together. that is my opinion and it's all subjective. if YOU feel the tune - then it's all fine!

keep the tunes coming guys!

nice one, this is definitely a big step up on the last one already! just the right side of minimal for me, and production sounds much cleaner. i particularly like the lil percussive roll that is in every bar or two.

i should have a new one up in the next couple of days so keep your eye out just in case i do something proactive for once!

@Vulva - defo feeling your first one man. Have a cool groove to it and feeling the creep it has going on! Temptation is defo the sort of thing i can imagine in one of the back rooms in Ibiza. Got that kinda all night long vibes going to it.

@Ahier - defo has some funky vibes going on there. Really feeling the vocal aswell. Not too keen on the first build up, its the automation im not too keen on. but loving it apart from that.

@djworm - not really my kinda house, but its got a nice sound to it and cant tell its been produced well!!

Yeah this is a really good idea, the brostep crew on the production page never like my songs I can't tell whether it's because they're different styles or they are genuinely rubbish :D

@vulva- I'm going to comment on Temptation because it's your best one, I actually love it mate, I've only been getting into House recently and these are exactly the tunes I want to be trying to make. I especially love those sliding at around 2:40, the use of panning is really good too. It's nice and bright without being cheesy yknow, great stuff.
Your other two, I'm not so keen on, but it's just personal preference, theyre a bit more claustrophobic and stilting, stuttering beats rather than straight, if you see what I mean, but very nicely produced.

@LA Boxers, all your work sounds sick but I especially loved forever night, I love the way the synths fit in with the vocalist, creating great harmony, and very danceable too. What label is your album going to be on?

anyway this is mine

@Ahier, Really feeling that track. Kick on it is very nice!

@Tuna the track overall is pretty good and Chilled. Not too keen on going from the snare roll to the hats though (0.32 to 0.47). I completely missed it going into the main part on first listen. The roll kind of builds up and then it goes into the main chilled bit. Really like the tune as a whole though.

I know its a WIP and everyone else has put up full tracks but would like to hear some input on this? Just hit a bit of a dead end with it, hoping people picking it apart will get me back on track? (I don't like the intro synth or the kicks before the drop, they're gone..)

@Komoa-Absolutely mad tune, not really my cup of tea, but I love the way you've got the lyrics integrated in, it's the synths which need a bit of work on them, they're only really occupying one band of frequency, the midrange and there's only one dynamic level too- loud. Also sounds as if the drums are getting drowned out a bit, with the drum pattern being rather simple too. Interesting ideas though, and by working on your production you'll soon be making bangers on a regs, I'm sure :D:

@KeeveBC- I quite the melodies on the synth at the start, so maybe just change the sound instead of removing them completely. I like the shuffling drums before the drop too. Really like the beat which comes in at 0:58, got me dancing in my chair, but it seems a bit empty, needs a bit more sub underneath it? Also the melody does get rrepetetive, maybe put a bit of octave variation on it, as well as layring it with another synth for the second drop. Also what would work really well here would be a key change , and perhaps some pads. It's a really nice track but just very empty.

@tunabomber- Really nice pads and the sub is beautiful. I get round the soundcloud thing by just making everything really quiet when I put it in. But the tune is just sick- downloaded! :D

These are my more recent ones :e:

would love some feedback, anything from general synthesis, mixdown, arrangement, concept, ways to keep things interesting and evolving within the track, etc. you know the drill.

even if you dont comment, thanks for looking.

:james:

all your tracks are mental, loving the vibes. relax ting. feeling margarita the most man. SOmthing about that pad with the little melodic stab things... really works for me. I think i remember seeing they are for download on soundcloud? If so ill grab them when im at home on my studio/DJ setup for sure!
