I can't delete my vinyl
First 5 tracks were Midnight Request Line, 0800 Dub, Anti War Dub, Goat Stare, Root and one of the Kode9 & Space Ape 10s
Love them all still!

Got a pirated version of DSAS 4, listened to Youngsta on Rinse for a while and then bought Volume 2. Still went to get my hands on a vinyl copy of Mud and Ruffage. I'm not paying for the premium, though I was around when they were released and only held back because I thought buying a TT was out of the question.

I was one of those who were first introduced to dubstep via Fabriclive 37, but quickly got into listening to the Dubstep Allstars Vols and grew from there.
I don't care, Fabriclive 37 still has some wicked tunes in there.

for me, yes.. I still like going back to the musicians that first got me started into dubstep, even if dubstep is always changing directions.
However, for me it wasn't really that easy for me to like dubstep when it first got hyped out, I used to be highly into IDM around the early 2000 years, when Planet Mu started releasing dubstep records back in 2004 or 2005 or so, I just found dubstep incredibly boring, monotone, VERY SLOW. But of course seeing how dubstep is always envolving it's sounds, things started changing when I was listening to artists such as 2562, Martyn, Burial, Kode9, TRG, Pangaea, etc. I can't really debate if it was either Burial that got me started (but again, there were always arguements about if Burial was dubstep or not) or maybe it was the Round Black Ghosts compilation on ~scape.

I used to love the wubbles, even went out of my way to talk about how shitty Burial was... Exact opposite now, strange
Re: Do u still like the songs u liked bak when u 1st met dbs
I got into dubstep through Burial but then I listened to a lot of Rusko and Bar 9. Now I only like old Rusko tunes and
a few of Bar 9's, still like all the Burial dubs
Taste changed quit a bit though, really into the stuff yunx plays nowadays.

this is a dope topic for a thread.
i would have to say i have started to move away from the super heavy, obnoxious stuff (though there are obviously exceptions) toward the more subby, musical stuff. i could never throw away certain classics sush as TRUST NOBODY - SPMC
DISKO REKKAH - LOEFA
EARTH A RUN RED - DMZ
CHAINBA - MALA
TOLERANCE - N TYPE
... and so many more. i still rinse these almost every time i play on my decks at home.
but there is a lot of shit i bought when i first started that i can't stand anymore. im baffled as to how i thought they were good tunes.
i don't know where im going with this, i just thought it was a cool topic.
cheers yall... i enjoyed reading what ppl had to say for sure.

ever since i first heard dubstep, for me it was like discovering a whole new range of possibilities in music. after being a hardcore jungle maniac for 5 years straight, it was the perfect way to slow things down a bit but still retain all the gangsterness.
I bought Memories of the Future in 06 and i just dug it back out the other day and its still as good as i remember

Re: Do u still like the songs u liked bak when u 1st met dbs
i first got into it when my mate showed me the caspa and rusko fabriclive, then i purchased a copy of the rinse fm "i love dubstep" cd and it totally opened my eyes to what dubstep was really about... i still got mad love for all the stuff i heard on that cd as it was almost like an enlightenment

I first bought Bengas invasion EP and tbh Evolution is one of the few dubstep tunes I still play out, that tune never gets old

Re: Do u still like the songs u liked bak when u 1st met dbs
Used to be massively into the filth/wobble etc.
Now I literally can't stand the stuff, way too obnoxious.
It's like an opposites thing though. I'm pretty sure back when I started listening I turned my nose up at Burial and the such.
Now, Burial is easily one of my favourite artists.
Strange how it's all happened, maybe it's the high grade opening everything up for me

Having only ever been into the best stuff wot wot etc.

Re: Do u still like the songs u liked bak when u 1st met dbs
This sums up how I feel. I have a couple dozen records I'm not so fond of now, but for the most part I'm happy with my investmentfractal wrote:Yes I still like them, might not be the majority of what I'm playing now, but the tunes I buy and love stand the test of time imho

hey, you wouldn't hire a clown to fix a leak in the john..so why do you let these hooligans tear down the biz?
