The reese at 1:33
HOW DOES HE DO THAT? It's the most gorgeous reese ever. Is it sampled from the original tune and then modulated/chorused? No idea. I'm game when it comes to aggressive midrange reese with a sub underneath, but I can't quite nail this one and I did the usual low-pass + automation on the cut-off with resonance thing.

I hate to even ask how to make another persons sounds, but I was wondering if anyone had any insight into how shekel makes his central sounds?
Like right at the drop, 1:10 I think.. being pretty new to all of this I'm just completely lost with those kind of sounds.

Re: The 'help me make this sound!' thread
Hey dude ! If you are using massive just make a pretty harsh sound using the three oscillator do the usual routing -> filter to cut off and I'm gessing that could be a scream filter with quite a lot of resonance and the scream (second knob on the filter section) put to about 12'o'clock. Go in the performer in the LFO section and choose a reversed saw wave which makes that kind of ... wa wa.Zebrakid wrote:I hate to even ask how to make another persons sounds, but I was wondering if anyone had any insight into how shekel makes his central sounds?

Re: The 'help me make this sound!' thread
My guess is pulse or triangle wave + noise + format filter without modulation.silkpantsman wrote:

Could be that it's just a sampled "aaah" vocal...
EDIT: Great tune! Thanks

Re: The 'help me make this sound!' thread
Can anybody help me with this automation? It's 1:37 to 2:02. It's not the siren or the lead part. The bass beneath it. Can anybody help me with it?
Re: The 'help me make this sound!' thread
I am trying to make a driving bass sound similar to the one in this track
It occurs right at the drop at 1:27
Soundcloud
It sounds like it is a high pitched note that plays for a split second followed by the same note and then pitched down for a few seconds and then back up
I've been trying to recreate something similar but am completely lost
i just really like how the same sound goes down and then back up, or maybe its a couple sounds together?
Any help would be awesome

I never would ask, but this thread makes it so tempting. How do you make the sound at around 48 seconds. Please and thank you.
Re: The 'help me make this sound!' thread
Na he's got a few synths there. A reese, and at least 1 other synth sitting on top that is showing as the reese's cutoff comes up (so different sets of automation on separate channels).Genevieve wrote:

If that main reese even IS a synth. I wouldn't put it past Amon to have created that from a sample. But most of the other little bits in that section sound more like reversed and pitched around samples than synths.amphibian wrote:Na he's got a few synths there. yes it's a synth. how else are you going to create the sound? try 3 squares (detuned) with lots of voiceing, run it through a bandpass or daft. add chrous/ maybe a little verb. see where you end up O_oGusto wrote:If that main reese even IS a synth. Re: The 'help me make this sound!' thread
Is it acceptable to ask for help with a sound that isn't bass/reese/wub related?!?!?
I want to break from tradition and ask if anyone knows how to make the snare in this track:

(zoom onto 1:52)
It sounds pretty simple, but just pitching up real & synthetic snares and playing with EQ doesn't even get me close! Hopefully someone can assist, ta...

Hey, thanks a lot everyone for helping me out with the 'reese'. I'm gonna try it out and see what I can do.
The reason why it may not even BE a reese is simply because legend has it, that the whole album was created using samples. DJ Shadow style. But to me it sounded tooo 'perfect' to be based on samples and sample mashing alone.

Re: The 'help me make this sound!' thread
lol legend has it... if it's a sample, it's a sampled 'reese'... which is a reese lol. a 'sample' doesn't have a distinct sound like a reese, hoover, wobble, etc has. it's a sample of a sound recorded from your synthesiser... in this case, it would be a recorded reese (if in fact they sampled their reese)... just try what i said and you'll be at the sound. tweek some parameters and call it a day.Genevieve wrote:Hey, thanks a lot everyone for helping me out with the 'reese'. How do you make the main stab sound in the track? The one that comes in at about 5 seconds? It's mega cheese but it's so sick, I love it.
