the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
Go on then fella, justify your statement fully. We're all ears.
Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
...because dubstep is really the only music that ever had a name, right?

There's too much ego here. There's too much ego here.

Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
the forward thinkers of any genre have never made their music with the intent to start that genre of music. they took their influences and put their own twist, their own interpretation on it. genres come when they gain enough publicity to need a label by most people.
it's dance music, now start being innovative.

Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
What does it matter to you if there are genres? If its all dance music, go and listen to Teisto. Its all the same dance music, right. I think your Albert Hoffman wanna be self skipped enlightenment and went straight to fried. TRY LESS DOSES.
Also try to speak to people with a little respect. This is your second time flaming THE SAME TOPIC with a blanket statement, designed to ruffle feathers. Please, go find the No Genre Dance Music forum.

Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
this thread is as pointless as the millions of identical ones that exist on the internet.
This is such a vacuous non-statement, it's almost meaningless:
This place drives me mental sometimes.
This is such a vacuous non-statement, it's almost meaningless:
it's always been music! All food is just food but we still call things bananas and steaks and puddings. At the very least certain amount of delineation is necessary to allow for concise discussion.gonzodj wrote:dubstep is dead, it never existed in the first place, and we've run out of labels to put on music. so now maybe it can just be music again.
true artistic merit cannot be put under a label.
once again just stating the bloody obvious. Innovation is always followed by imitation, it's human nature. It still doesn't add any gravitas to what you're trying to say.gonzodj wrote:the forward thinkers of any genre have never made their music with the intent to start that genre of music. they took their influences and put their own twist, their own interpretation on it. genres come when they gain enough publicity to need a label by most people.

Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
i was hoping to see drumstep or robostep peppered in here somewhere

Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
I've never really considered a lot of the "dubstep" I write a real dubstep as it often don't sound anything like the original Skream/Mystikz/Loefah tunes that got me into this scene in the first place, its more usefull as a term used for music that can mix together (as its a kind of similar tempo) rather than a genre. When forum geeks get their knickers in a twist about whats really dubstep or whats not they seem to forget that a lot of producers never claimed their music to be "real" dubstep its just convenient to call it that for lack of a better wordgonzodj wrote:since i got warned and never got to fully say what i wanted to (which was my fault)

BTW Thinking is right its yet another pointless thread

Perception is reality - dubstep is alive as long as people continue to like the music they like to call dubstep.. it evolves and changes and it's not for anyone to say "it's changed so now it's not dubstep'.. all genres experience evolution / sub-genres etc Did house die 20 years ago when it evolved into it's many different forms?
Deal with it ffs!

Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
it was never dubstep! the label dubstep came about because everything that can be sold needs a label. start thinking of more creative things to call your music than dubstep.snatchdnb wrote:Perception is reality - dubstep is alive as long as people continue to like the music they like to call dubstep.. it evolves and changes and it's not for anyone to say "it's changed so now it's not dubstep'.. all genres experience evolution / sub-genres etc Did house die 20 years ago when it evolved into it's many different forms?

Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
You're dumb. When i talk to my friends about a band chances i am going to say its a "rock" band, not "this new music group with guitars n stuff". Labels and tags don't kill music, its a way to easily relate types of sounds to people. Labels and tags also don't "destroy what music really is" or any bullshit like that.gonzodj wrote:it was never dubstep! the label dubstep came about because everything that can be sold needs a label. start thinking of more creative things to call your music than dubstep.
Yes music is music, but trying to put something down because people gave it a name is just ridiculous.
Re: the death of dubstep and the evolution of music
you clearly have your own views - although they are flawed - and you don't want to listen to anything anyone else has to say so this thread is pointless
