do you have any idea how this goes for universities? I really hate getting shots personally so I was pretty upset about having to get the meningitis vaccine before I went to university.
Might be a bit unreasonable in some senses but for a school that requires on-campus housing for first years I think it might be more unreasonable not to require a meningitis vaccine?
No idea... as an adult, I've never been asked anything about vaccination. I would imagine one would go about it the same way, and obtain a waiver and do whatever the local laws require to make it official. You can probably find all the info you need on local government websites by searching for vaccination info for the particular city. There's some info here http://www.vaccinerights.com/ (check question 23 on the Q&A)

when i was in college we had a menangitis outbreak. 4 kids left school fine at 5pm and were dead by 8am the next morning. They cancelled school for a week and gave us all meds that made our pee turn orange.
"The eradication of the virus has been described as the biggest achievement in veterinary history and one which will save the lives and livelihoods of millions of the poorest people in the world",
"Conquering nature means shaping it to benefit humanity rather than its destruction. But there are some parts of nature, such as deadly viruses, which it benefits humanity to destroy",

better safe than sorry id guess
I had a vague acquaintance who died from meningitis at Uni. Cleaners found him after the weekend.
And another mate who managed to not die (they don't know how he didn't - his veins were all swollen and stuff when he came wandering into his housemates in the dining area) but was crippled for a few years. I don't know whether he's fully recovered yet.
