in all seriousness though i would say you know your ready when you can consistently mix for a good 2 hours straight without any fuck ups

you mean djing? I don't think there is such a time. just do it - it isn't that bigger deal! Depending on where you are djing, people won't even be paying that much attention. And even when people are paying attention, big names have monumental fuckups all the time. so you are probably ready, is what I am saying

In my opinion, if you dont have alot of local clout, and your not sure you can REALLY shine, its not time... I wouldnt wanna get on stage and be just another DJ... Id wanna get up and do some shit haha... if this makes any sense at all? And also, I dont wanna get up and do the best set of my life, if Imma step down and noones gonna care who was even up...

2nd Edit: to contribute.. I think it would be good to put some pressure on yourself before playing out.. maybe throw a little party, or DJ a friends party. Record your sets and be anal about them.
