Hang Drum - Anyone got any samples?

Post by Dub_Fiend » Thu Oct 21, 2010 8:32 am

Easy all,

I've known about hang drums for ages, and they're totally awesome. I searched the subforum and found nothing so far and so I was wondering if any members might have a decent pack of multi-samples of a hang drum/hang drums :D Could deffo use that as a part of my setup, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one that will benefit :)

Also, if anyone manages to find any HAPI drum samples I'll be greatly appreciative :3

Right on man. Aren't those drums fairly rare because they're made in that one place in Switzerland?

yes originally they were only made by one guy in switzerlnd or sweden or someplace. you can get cheaper alternatives now but they dont sound quite as beautiful. If anyone has got any samples from a hang thatd be amazing! might be posible to sample some hits out of a portico quartet song, ill hav an investigation wen i get home and post up some if i can.

Those tend to be the kind of people to grab one, but they're quite an innovative instrument. Only think it was invented like ten years ago or so, and it does make the most beautiful noises :)

someone asked me to make a tune with hang drum samples and said i would if he actually got me proper samples instead of shit vids on youtube. apparently he knows people with some so *maybe* i'll get some samples, if so i'll chuck them up. fuck this elitist "i won't sell you a hang drum cos you're not COOL enough".

Ive been looking for hang drum samples for about 2 years, after multiple posts here, even willing to swap for extremely perfect samples of other percussion, I had no luck.

So, good luck (Y)

Hang Drum.

Believe it, its good. 8 Variations too. You need Kore, or Kore Player (which is free).

Everything on that Sound Pack is movie atmosphere / burial quality.

This.

The two "bangs" in the beginning of this are the Hang Drum from that Sound Pack, as well as throughout the tune:

soniccoulture makes a libary called "pan drum" that's all kontakt instruments of the hung drum. most likely the best samples of the hang out there.

wasn't impressed with the hang drum in this at all. have to tweak it hard to get a mildly passable sound and even then it's very one-dimensional and the hang drum is capable of a wide variety of sounds.

Couldn't you just get a zinksink, a mic and some imagenation?

Been in love with its sound since I first heard it. Was never able to find where to buy one. :(

Haven't tried this soniccouture library but the demo's sound amazing - have got the tremors pack and that has some fucking beautiful samples in it - only problem is it's all breaks & loops so you have to cut them up to use 'em though - not too much of a problem but it would be nice to have one shots. Can't imagine this would be a problem for the pan drums as it's a kore pack.
